Applications are invited for one [1] Research Fellowship (BI) for the development of R&D activities in the field of science and technology management and communication, within the scope of the CryoEMatNOVA project — HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-TALENTS-01-01 – 101087571, funded by the European Commission, carried out at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA FCT), under the following conditions:
1. Scientific area
Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life Sciences or related fields.
2. Eligibility and admission requirements
Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life Sciences or related fields and meet the conditions required for enrolment in a non-degree course, pursuant to Article 7 of the Research Fellowship Regulations of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.
The applicant must be enrolled in a non-degree course that is integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution and developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
At the application stage, if the applicant does not yet have the proof of enrolment required for the fellowship, a declaration on honour must be submitted stating that the applicant meets the conditions necessary to enrol. The fellowship contract is conditional upon submission of the applicable proof of enrolment, pursuant to Article 18(1)(c) of the Research Fellowship Regulations of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.

The work plan will be carried out within the scope of the CryoEMatNOVA project and aims to consolidate skills in science and technology management and communication through participation in activities directly associated with the project's technical and scientific implementation, monitoring, training and dissemination of results, specifically:
4. Applicable legislation and regulations
The fellowship is governed by the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, approved by Law No. 40/2004 of 18 August, in its current wording, and by the Research Fellowship Regulations of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, approved by Order No. 9484/2023 of 14 September, as well as by any other applicable legal and regulatory provisions.
5. Workplace and scientific supervision
The work plan will be carried out at the Department of Chemistry, NOVA FCT, Caparica Campus, under the scientific supervision of Dr Himanshu Sharma, Principal Researcher at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.
The fellowship will have a duration of up to 12 (twelve) months, with an expected start date in October 2026, and may not be awarded for a period of less than three consecutive months.
Applicants enrolled in a non-degree course may hold the fellowship for a maximum period of 12 months, whether consecutive or non-consecutive.
7. Fellowship amount and components
The monthly maintenance allowance is €1,359.64 (one thousand three hundred and fifty-nine euros and sixty-four cents), corresponding to the beneficiary's situation and to the table of fellowship amounts in force applicable to Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Payment is made monthly by bank transfer.
The fellowship includes personal accident insurance and, where applicable, reimbursement of contributions to the Voluntary Social Security scheme, pursuant to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute and the Research Fellowship Regulations of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.
8. Selection methods and criteria
The selection method will be Curriculum Assessment. The final score will be expressed on a scale from 0 to 20 and will result from the application of the following criteria and weightings:
Following the curriculum assessment, if deemed necessary by the selection panel, the three highest-ranked applicants in the initial ranking will be invited for an interview. The interview will account for 40% of the final score, while the curriculum assessment will account for 60%.

10. Publication/notification of results
The assessment results will be communicated to applicants by email within 60 working days after the application deadline, pursuant to the Research Fellowship Regulations of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.
Where applicable, applicants will be notified to exercise their right to a prior hearing, pursuant to the Portuguese Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision will be communicated by the same means.
11. Complaint and appeal
A complaint or appeal against the final decision may be submitted within 10 working days following its notification, pursuant to Article 15 of the Research Fellowship Regulations of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, via email to almc@fct.unl.pt .
The call is open from 25 September to 2 October 2026, until 23:59:59 (Lisbon time) on the final day of the application period.
