A FCiências.ID, através do LASIGE, procura um(a) bolseiro(a) de investigação para trabalhar em Computer Science e Engineering, com foco em sistemas de attestation e Zero Trust. A posição destina-se a estudantes de mestrado com participação em projetos de segurança de redes e IoT.

A bolsa, com duração inicial de 3 meses a iniciar em outubro de 2026, pode ser renovada por mais 3 meses, conforme as regras da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, IP.

Qualificações

• Inscrição no curso de Mestrado.
• Experiência anterior em engenharia de computação com foco em sistemas cyber-físicos, IoT, redes e segurança.
• Apresentação de qualificações académicas/diplomas, se aplicável.

Responsabilidades

• Revisar controle de acesso baseado em attestação, arquitetura de RATS e formatos de attestação/identidade.
• Definir modelo de ameaça (replay/relay, stale-state, etc.) e um root-of-trust protegido.
• Desenhar o esquema de autenticação vinculando identidade do dispositivo, estado attestado e chave de confiança.

1 (one) Research Fellowship (BI) for Master Student

• Scientific Area: Computer Science and Engineering, Computer and Information security
  
• Additional optional skills and qualifications: Previous experience in computer engineering, with a focus on cyber-physical systems, IoT, networks, and security.
  
• Contracting requirements: Presentation of the academic qualifications and/or diplomas, if applicable. Enrolment inMaster’s degree.
  
• Work plan: Review attestation-aware access control, the RATS architecture (RFC 9334) and attestation-result/identity formats (RFC 9711), authorization for constrained environments (RFC 9200), and Zero Trust (NIST SP 800-207); (2) Define the threat model (replay/relay of evidence and tokens, stale-state / time-of-check-to-time-of-use use, privilege escalation, retained access by a compromised device); (3) Design the authentication scheme binding device identity, attested state, and a root-of-trust-protected key (proof-of-possession), suitable for constrained devices; (4) Design the authorization model and policy that consume attestation results, with continuous re-evaluation tied to attestation freshness; (5) Implement the framework integrated with the existing attestation middleware, using standard formats; (6) Evaluate security against the threat model (including formal protocol verification) and performance on constrained hardware, characterizing the freshness-versus-cost trade-off, against baselines without attestation binding.
  
• Place of work: The work will be developed at theLASIGE Computer Science and Engineering Research Centre , Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon , under the scientific supervision of Professor José Cecílio.
  
• Fellowship duration: This position is initially opened for3 months due to start inOctober 2026. The fellowship contract may be potentially renewed for 3 months, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation of Research Fellowships from the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P.
  
• Monthly allowance: The fellowship amounts to1090,98€, according to table values of the fellowships awarded directly by the FCT, IP.The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can ensure the right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance scheme, if not covered by any other social protection scheme, pursuant to Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.
  
• Evaluation and selection process: Candidates will be assessed byCV (100%), considering academic performance (80%) and previous participation in development projects (20%). Applicants whose application is scored with a final classification of less than 60 points are not eligible for granting a fellowship.

• Time limits for the appeal procedure: In case of negative decision, the candidates have 10 business days, after the date of announcement of the results of the candidates’ evaluation, to pronounce their disagreement in accordance with the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. Appeals against the final decision may be submitted to the Administration Board of FCiências.ID ( [e-mail] ) within 15 business days after the notification date.

Note 1: The documents that prove the entitlement of the academic qualifications and diplomas can be dismissed during the application period and replaced by a declaration on their honour from the applicant ( Minuta PT , Minute EN ) . Their delivery is mandatory for the fellowship contractualization.
