Job summary

Hexa Consulting is seeking a Java Developer to contribute to insurance-domain software initiatives. This fully remote role is based in Portugal and focuses on developing and enhancing business applications that support insurance operations in an Agile environment.

You will design, develop and maintain Java-based applications, collaborate with Product Owners and tech teams, and ensure code quality, performance and maintainability across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional Java software development.
• Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with emphasis on code quality.
• Ability to work autonomously and in distributed teams.
• Clear communication and proactive knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java-based applications supporting insurance business processes.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and technical teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Develop scalable, maintainable software components with high performance.
• Implement and optimize data storage using SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Support CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps.
• Participate in Scrum activities and deliver iteratively.
• Perform code reviews and troubleshoot technical issues.
