Job summary

Toptal, a fully remote company, is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to own and maintain the data transformation layer, govern data quality, and build AI-enabled data systems. You will collaborate with Data Engineers and Business Analysts to ensure trustworthy data for analytics and decision making.

You will work daily with SQL and Python, contribute to data dictionaries, and help scale data platforms while aligning with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required in Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years delivering production data models.
• Expert SQL skills and working Python knowledge.
• Fluency with LLMs and agentic coding tools.
• Experience with BigQuery or Snowflake.
• Knowledge of dbt/Dataform/SQLMesh.
• Git and code review in production.
• Experience with Airflow or Dagster.
• Data governance and data quality experience.
• Linking data to business strategy and impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, review and ship SQL models transforming raw data for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to add sources and publish in the data warehouse.
• Monitor warehouse and derive insights to improve data operations and quality.
• Turn business asks into modeled data and define business rules.
• Improve data quality, lineage, and accessibility across sources.
• Own and document the data dictionary tracing field origins.
• Diagnose and resolve data incidents and review teammates' code.
• Work with Analysts, Scientists, and process owners to drive decisions.
• Help users understand data complexity and limitations.
• Improve playbooks and tooling for the data warehouse.
