Job summary

Toptal is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to own our data warehouse and governance, building AI-enabled data systems and pipelines. You will work closely with Data Engineers and Business Analysts in a fully remote setting to transform raw data into trusted analytics, using SQL daily and applying critical thinking.

You will lead data modeling efforts, ensure data quality, and drive decision-making with scalable solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years shipping production data models as Analytics Engineer/Data Engineer/Data Analyst.
• Expert SQL and working Python.
• Fluency with LLMs and agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.).
• Experience with cloud data warehousing (BigQuery/Snowflake).
• Knowledge of modern transformation frameworks (dbt/Dataform/SQLMesh).
• Git fluency: PRs, reviews, conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, review, and ship SQL models transforming raw data into usable data products.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to add and publish data sources.
• Monitor data warehouse and extract insights to improve data quality and usability.
• Translate business asks into modeled data; define grain and rules.
• Improve data quality, lineage, and access controls across sources.
• Own the data dictionary and documentation; support AI agents.
• Diagnose and resolve data incidents; ensure production hygiene.
• Work with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and stakeholders for data-driven decisions.
• Help teams understand data complexities and limitations.
• Improve playbooks, docs, and tooling for the warehouse.
