Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Backend Engineer — A2A Integration in Portugal for a fully remote role. You will design and build the Agent Gateway components, enable agent discovery, and implement JSON-based identity/configuration publishing.

Qualifications

3+ years of backend engineering experience.
Strong experience building and consuming APIs with attention to security.
Hands-on with REST APIs and asynchronous/event-driven patterns (SSE).
Understanding microservice communication and distributed systems in production.
Familiarity with schema design and structured JSON endpoints.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain A2A Gateway components enabling agent discovery, registration, and interaction.
Implement Agent Card JSON schema and /.well-known/agent.json endpoints for identity and configuration publishing.
Design and integrate A2A invocation patterns, handling JSON-RPC 2.0 messaging and task lifecycle events.
Build high-performance APIs in Python using async frameworks and AgentCore SDK.
Ensure secure communication flows for agent interactions via REST and streaming (SSE).
Collaborate with platform teams to validate integration under load and ensure observability.
