About the Role
A leading international data centre contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Quality Lead to join a major data centre project in Portugal.
The Electrical Quality Lead will be responsible for overseeing the quality management of all electrical installation activities on site, ensuring that works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, inspection and test plans, applicable standards and client requirements.
Working closely with the Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Quality teams, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the electrical installation is delivered to the highest possible standard and that all quality documentation is completed accurately and on time.
This position would suit an experienced electrical quality professional with a strong background in data centres, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, mission-critical or other technically complex construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all electrical quality activities on the project.
- Develop, implement and maintain electrical quality procedures in line with the project Quality Plan.
- Ensure electrical installation works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards and project requirements.
- Review electrical Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements and quality documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor inspections of electrical installations throughout the construction process.
- Ensure inspection and testing activities are carried out at the appropriate stages of installation.
- Work closely with Electrical Engineers, Construction Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits of electrical installation works.
- Identify non-conformances and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process through to satisfactory close-out.
- Monitor trends in defects, quality issues and rework and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure all electrical test results and inspection records are properly documented and maintained.
- Coordinate with commissioning teams regarding electrical testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning requirements.
- Review and verify electrical test documentation prior to system handover.
- Ensure materials and equipment installed on site comply with approved specifications and technical requirements.
- Support material inspections and verification where required.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives regarding quality matters.
- Participate in quality meetings, coordination meetings and project reviews.
- Assist with the preparation of quality reports and provide regular updates to project management.
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure quality documentation is maintained and readily available for project handover.
- Support the compilation of final handover and close-out documentation.
- Assist with client inspections, audits and quality reviews.
- Promote a proactive quality culture across the electrical construction team.
- Ensure lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives are captured throughout the project lifecycle.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in an Electrical Quality, QA/QC, Quality Engineering or Electrical Construction Quality role.
- Strong electrical construction background.
- Experience working on data centre or mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
- Experience within pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial or other technically complex construction environments will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of electrical installation, inspection and testing processes.
- Experience with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), NCRs, quality audits, inspection records and handover documentation.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience managing subcontractor quality and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Strong understanding of electrical testing and commissioning requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with construction, engineering and commissioning teams.
- Relevant electrical engineering, electrical trade or quality qualification is desirable.
- Experience working on large-scale international projects is advantageous.
