Qualificações

Responsabilidades

About the Opportunity

A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Manager to join its project delivery team in Portugal, supporting the construction and commissioning of a major Hyperscale Data Centre.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Construction Manager, Electrical Site Manager, Electrical Project Manager, Electrical Package Manager, Electrical Building Services Manager or Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the delivery of major Electrical Building Services packages.

Working closely with Project Directors, Electrical Project Managers, MEP Managers, Design Managers, Commercial Teams, Planning Teams, BIM Teams, QA/QC Engineers, EHS Teams, Commissioning Managers and Client Representatives, the successful Electrical Construction Manager will provide site-based technical and operational leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

The role will ensure all Electrical Engineering and Construction works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and in accordance with project specifications, client standards and Data Centre operational requirements.

The Role - Electrical Construction Manager

As Electrical Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for the site-based delivery and coordination of all Electrical Building Services and Critical Power construction activities across the project.

The successful Electrical Construction Manager will manage Electrical Supervisors, Site Engineers, subcontractors, specialist vendors and construction resources while coordinating electrical works across data halls, electrical rooms, energy centres, plant areas and external compounds.

You will oversee construction planning, electrical installation, design coordination, procurement interfaces, quality control, energisation readiness, commissioning support and final handover.

Working on a landmark Hyperscale Data Centre, the Electrical Construction Manager will coordinate Electrical construction interfaces with CSA, Mechanical, BIM, Commissioning and Client Teams while driving programme delivery, safety performance and construction excellence.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Construction Manager
Electrical Construction Management & Data Centre Delivery
  • Lead the successful delivery of all Electrical Building Services packages, ensuring safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Manage Electrical Supervisors, Site Engineers, subcontractors, specialist vendors, suppliers and site resources.
  • Develop construction strategies, short-term programmes, resource plans, logistics plans and installation sequences.
  • Coordinate multiple Electrical work fronts across data halls, electrical rooms, plant areas, energy centres and external infrastructure.
  • Monitor construction progress and implement mitigation or recovery measures where required.
Electrical Systems & Critical Power Infrastructure

Manage the installation and coordination of major Electrical Systems, including:

  • HV, MV and LV Electrical Infrastructure, Transformers, AIS and GIS Switchgear, UPS Systems and Battery Systems, Standby Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, Static Transfer Switches, Busbar Systems, Main Switchboards and Distribution Boards, Power Distribution Units, Remote Power Panels, Cable Containment, HV, MV and LV Cabling, Cable Jointing and Terminations, Lighting and Small Power, Earthing and Lightning Protection, Fire Alarm Systems, Security Systems, Structured Cabling, ICT Infrastructure, BMS and EPMS interfaces

Ensure all Electrical installations comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, manufacturer requirements and client standards.

Programme & Construction Coordination
  • Work closely with Project Planners to develop, update and monitor Electrical construction programmes.
  • Manage short-term look-ahead programmes, daily work activities, labour requirements and site logistics.
  • Coordinate design information, procurement schedules, material deliveries and specialist vendor attendance.
  • Identify critical-path activities, construction constraints and interface risks at an early stage.
  • Chair daily coordination meetings, subcontractor reviews, progress meetings and Electrical construction workshops.
Design, BIM & Technical Coordination
  • Coordinate Electrical construction activities with Design Managers, Electrical Engineers, BIM Teams and specialist vendors.
  • Review construction drawings, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, equipment schedules, submittals and coordinated BIM models.
  • Ensure design information is released in line with procurement and construction requirements.
  • Manage technical queries, RFIs, design changes, field instructions and installation issues.
  • Coordinate builders' work, equipment bases, risers, penetrations, access requirements and MEP interfaces.
Procurement & Vendor Management
  • Coordinate procurement requirements for transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busbar systems and specialist electrical equipment.
  • Review technical submissions, equipment schedules, delivery programmes and vendor documentation.
  • Monitor long-lead electrical equipment and ensure manufacturing and delivery dates align with the project programme.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing, delivery inspections, installation support and vendor commissioning activities.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier performance throughout the construction lifecycle.
Health, Safety & Electrical Compliance
  • Champion a proactive Health, Safety and Environmental culture across all Electrical construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Portuguese legislation, company procedures, Electrical Safety Rules and client requirements.
  • Review and approve RAMS, lifting plans, temporary power proposals, switching procedures and high-risk activities.
  • Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, site inspections and coordination meetings.
  • Work closely with EHS Teams, Authorised Persons and Supervisors to maintain safe systems of work.
Quality Assurance & Electrical Testing
  • Work with QA/QC Teams to develop and implement Inspection and Test Plans, check sheets and quality documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections for containment, cabling, switchgear, transformers, busbar, terminations, earthing and electrical equipment installation.
  • Ensure cable testing, insulation resistance testing, torque checks, protection testing and equipment inspections are completed correctly.
  • Manage snagging, punch-list closeout, defects and electrical non-conformances.
  • Ensure as-built drawings, test records, certificates and quality documentation are complete.
Energisation, Commissioning & Handover
  • Lead construction readiness for Electrical energisation and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate system completion, pre-energisation inspections, switching schedules and handover from Construction to Commissioning Teams.
  • Support Level 1-5 Commissioning, functional testing, protection testing and Integrated Systems Testing.
  • Work closely with Commissioning Managers, Authorised Persons and specialist vendors to resolve technical and installation issues.
  • Ensure all Electrical Systems are completed to the required quality standard before energisation and client handover.
Commercial & Stakeholder Management
  • Support the Project Director and Commercial Team with procurement, subcontractor management, cost control and change management.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, labour productivity, construction outputs and package expenditure.
  • Review variations, scope gaps, design changes and commercial impacts.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, utility providers, subcontractors, equipment vendors and internal project teams.
  • Act as the lead site-based Electrical Construction Manager for the project.
Necessary Requirements of the Electrical Construction Manager
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Alternatively, possess a recognised Electrical trade qualification supported by significant construction-management experience.
  • 7+ years' experience as an Electrical Construction Manager, Electrical Site Manager, Electrical Project Manager, Electrical Package Manager, Electrical Building Services Manager, Electrical Contracts Manager or Senior Electrical Engineer.
  • Proven experience working within a Tier 1 Contractor, M&E Contractor, Electrical Contractor or Data Centre Contractor environment.
  • Strong experience delivering major Hyperscale Data Centre, Colocation Data Centre, Mission-Critical, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Semiconductor or Advanced Manufacturing projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of Electrical Building Services, Critical Power Infrastructure, installation, testing, energisation and commissioning.
  • Experience managing large multidisciplinary site teams, subcontractors and specialist vendors.
  • Strong understanding of construction planning, logistics, procurement, quality control and project handover.
  • Proven ability to coordinate Electrical construction interfaces with Mechanical, CSA, BIM and Commissioning Teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience supporting procurement, subcontractor management, variations and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a structured and safety-focused approach to construction delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Procore, Navisworks and digital construction-management platforms.
  • English fluency is essential. Portuguese language skills would be advantageous but are not essential for an international project team.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Portugal or be eligible to obtain the appropriate Portuguese residence and work permit.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience managing Electrical packages on large-scale Hyperscale Data Centre projects.
  • Experience working directly with hyperscale or colocation Data Centre clients.
  • Strong knowledge of fast-track construction and phased Data Centre delivery.
  • Experience managing major Critical Power packages, including switchgear, UPS systems, generators and busbar.
  • Previous involvement in phased energisation and complex commissioning programmes.
  • Experience coordinating major Electrical, Mechanical and CSA interfaces.
  • Knowledge of European electrical standards and Portuguese regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with FIDIC, NEC or other recognised international construction contract forms.
  • Previous experience working on projects in Portugal or mainland Europe.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction, Last Planner System or similar production-control methods.
