Job summary

Komodo Consulting is seeking a QA Engineer to join a technology project with hybrid work options across Lisbon, Porto, Braga, and Coimbra. The role emphasizes automated and manual testing, performance testing with JMeter, and AI-assisted testing to boost coverage and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Selenium UI testing, Newman API testing, and a solid background in functional, regression, and exploratory testing, plus ISTQB or equivalent certification and English

Qualifications

• English proficiency at B2 level or above.
• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's + Master's with 2+ years.
• Experience designing and executing automation frameworks for UI and API testing.
• Strong background in functional, regression, and exploratory testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for functional and non-functional requirements.
• Build and maintain test automation frameworks for UI (Selenium) and API (Newman).
• Plan and execute performance tests using JMeter based on non-functional requirements.
• Analyse performance results, identify bottlenecks, and report findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and DevOps to enable early defect detection and quality.
• Apply AI-driven testing techniques to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Manage defect reporting and ensure traceability and documentation.

The Project

We are seeking a QA Engineer to work on a technology project.

You will have the following responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases to validate functional and non-functional requirements;

• Build and maintain robust test automation frameworks for UI (Selenium) and API (Newman) testing;

• Plan and execute performance tests, including load and stress testing, based on non-functional requirements using JMeter;

• Analyse performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders;

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure early defect detection and continuous quality throughout the delivery lifecycle;

• Apply AI-driven testing techniques — such as test case generation, optimization, and defect prediction — to improve coverage and efficiency;

• Manage defect reporting and ensure full requirements traceability and test documentation.

You need to have the following skills/experience:

• Strong hands-on experience with JMeter for performance testing (mandatory);

• Proven experience designing and executing automation frameworks, including UI (Selenium) and API (Newman) testing;

• Solid background in functional, regression, and exploratory testing;

• Experience applying AI-assisted testing techniques and tools to enhance test efficiency and coverage;

• Ability to design performance tests based on non-functional requirements (load, stress, and scalability);

• Strong skills in defect management, test documentation, and requirements analysis;

• ISTQB Certification or equivalent quality assurance certification;

• Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's + Master's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience;

• English proficiency at B2 level or above.

Location

Lisbon, Porto, Braga, or Coimbra (Hybrid - 2 days per week at the office).
