Pencil is seeking a Product Designer to own the core Editor experience, driving strategy and execution with Product and Engineering. You will shape features that help users create, edit, and export ads faster with AI, across multiple formats, in a fast-moving, high-responsibility role based in Europe.

You will contribute to Design Systems, ship production-ready interfaces, and push the boundaries of AI-assisted editing within a SaaS editing platform.

• Own a core area of the Pencil editing platform end-to-end, from problem framing to final UI and shipped product.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define and ship features that increase generations and exports.
• Design high-quality interfaces for editing tools with a focus on speed and usability.
• Expand the creation tools suite across formats (ads, images, video, email, display).
• Design and improve AI-powered editing workflows that feel clear and trustworthy.
• Ensure design intent translates to development by working with engineers during implementation.
• Conduct user research to identify meaningful problems and improve usability.
• Contribute to and evolve our Design Systems and components as the product scales.

About the Role

• We are hiring a Product Designer to take full ownership of the core Editor experience, which is the central marketing OS for content creation.
• You will lead design from strategy to execution, working closely with Product and Engineering to shape features that help users create, edit, and export ads faster with AI.
• This role is ideal for someone who wants real responsibility, values speed and execution, and thrives in an environment where each Designer drives their own part of the product.
• You won't just push pixels, you'll help define what we build and why, with a primary focus on driving generations and exports.
• For this role, you'll need to be based in Europe.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own a core area of the Pencil editing platform end-to-end, from problem framing and concept exploration to final UI and shipped product.
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to define and rapidly ship features that directly increase content generations and exports.
• Design high-quality, production-ready interfaces for editing tools, relentlessly focused on improving speed and usability so users can create assets faster.
• Expand the suite of creation tools across multiple formats (ads, images, video, email, display, etc.).
• Design and improve AI-powered editing workflows that feel clear, usable, and trustworthy, directly augmenting the user's creative output.
• Ensure design intent is fully translated into development by working closely with engineers during implementation, reviewing builds, and iterating until the quality bar is met.
• Conduct user research to identify meaningful problems, validate solutions, and continuously raise usability and clarity across the product (as improving user-centricity is a goal for the year).
• Use and contribute to our **Design Systems**, helping evolve patterns, components, and foundations as the product scales.

What You'll Bring

• Must have 5+ years of experience designing digital products, within SaaS or complex, workflow-driven editing and creation tools.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end product thinking with a focus on speed, creation, and impact on output.
• Builder mindset with a deep obsession for creating tools that help users produce content faster.
• Deep craft sensibility and solid interaction and visual design skills to make creation tools feel powerful but simple.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and demonstrate strong product intuition, knowing what features will increase generations and exports without over-researching.
• High iteration tolerance and comfort with a "build and see what sticks" mode, happy to test, tweak, and evolve features rapidly based on usage.
• Strong experience working closely with engineers and a proven ability to keep up with a large, fast-moving engineering team.
• Highly proficient in **Figma**, using it fluently to explore ideas, communicate intent, and evolve **Design Systems**.
• AI curiosity and comfort designing for AI-powered systems, interested in how AI augments creation and integrates into editing workflows.
• Thrive in an execution-heavy environment with short cycles from concept to shipped feature, prioritizing speed over polish to accelerate learning.
• A Workflow thinker who understands how users move from idea to finished asset and is obsessed with optimizing that flow.
• Excited by AI as a design material and wanting to help define new interaction paradigms in a high-growth environment.
• Expected to own the space end-to-end, not just design screens.
