Qualificações

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in offshore structural engineering.
• Experience with finite element analysis tools like SACS, ABAQUS or similar.
• Strong analytical skills and a practical mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Design offshore structural solutions including lifting arrangements, grillage, seafastening and installation aids.
• Perform structural strength calculations and verifications.
• Conduct advanced finite element analyses using SACS, ABAQUS or similar tools.
• Review and coordinate structural deliverables such as drawings and reports.
• Ensure quality and compliance of engineering work by colleagues and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with installation and project engineers to optimise solutions.
• Support development and improvement of structural engineering standards and practices.

As a Structural Engineer in our new Porto office, you play a key role in ensuring the structural integrity of complex offshore installation projects.

Your role in the story

As a Structural Engineer at Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), you are at the heart of complex offshore engineering challenges. You translate technical requirements into safe, practical and efficient structural solutions, from early concept and tendering through to detailed design and execution.

You work within one of our product lines: Wind, Decommissioning or Transport & Installation, contributing to some of the most innovative offshore operations worldwide. Your work directly impacts the safety, feasibility and success of offshore installation methods.

In this role, you combine deep technical expertise with a practical mindset. You collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and support the continuous improvement of engineering solutions and ways of working.

You will be part of a growing engineering team in Porto and work closely with engineers across different disciplines. Together, you contribute to delivering complex offshore projects while building a strong and collaborative working environment.

What you will be working on

• Designing offshore structural solutions, including lifting arrangements, grillage, seafastening and installation aids
• Performing structural strength calculations and verifications
• Conducting advanced finite element analyses using SACS, ABAQUS or similar tools
• Reviewing and coordinating structural deliverables such as drawings and reports
• Ensuring quality and compliance of engineering work delivered by colleagues and subcontractors
• Collaborating with installation and project engineers to optimise solutions
• Supporting the development and improvement of structural engineering standards and practices

Key ingredients for success

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in offshore structural engineering
• Strong background in structural design and analysis
• Experience with finite element analysis tools like SACS, ABAQUS or similar
• Strong analytical skills combined with a practical and pragmatic mindset
• Ability to work independently and contribute within multidisciplinary teams
