Platform Engineer - DevOps & SRE for Cloud Pipelines

Job summary

Hiscox Re is seeking a Platform Engineer to contribute to reliable, automated software delivery across Azure, GCP, and hybrid environments. You will support CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and security-by-design principles in a cross-functional squad.

You will collaborate with software and data engineers to standardize templates and components, driving platform maturity and operational excellence in a fast-paced, forward-thinking organization.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-native services and containerized systems.
• Understanding of data platforms, orchestration, warehouses and lakehouses.
• Practical experience with CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Puppet).
• Experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure, or operational support.
• Working knowledge of Terraform, ARM/Bicep/YAML, and version control/state management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure, GCP, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Awareness of secure engineering practices and related testing approaches (SAST/DAST).
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (New Relic, ELK).
• Interest in adopting new techniques and tools to improve delivery.

Responsibilities

• Pipeline Support: maintain and secure CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments.
• IaC: automate cloud and on-prem infrastructure with Terraform/Ansible.
• DevOps culture: promote DevOps practices within squads.
• Reliability & Monitoring: build and maintain monitoring and alerting across platforms.
• Incident Management: participate in RCA activities and document findings.
