Job summary

Springer Nature is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to shape and improve unified platforms facilitating product teams. You will focus on Platform as a Service, driving adoption of developer tools, and advancing observability, security, and scalability across our Kubernetes-based stack.

The role involves collaborating with a global Engineering Enablement team, maintaining platform services, and contributing to a modern, standards-based tech environment across locations including Lisbon.

Qualifications

• Experience operating, automating, and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
• Proficiency with Kubernetes deployments and operators.
• Programming experience in Go, Python, JVM languages, or similar.
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, and security practices.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary teams delivering shared outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Meet delivery responsibilities as a contributor to the engineering platform.
• Build, operate and maintain core capabilities of the Engineering Platform.
• Treat the Platform as a product with real customers.
• Build automation, tooling and self-service mechanisms for faster delivery.
• Own and operate platform services end to end (Kubernetes, CI/CD, Observability).
• Provide technical support to product teams and feed learnings into roadmaps.
