GBL Tech is seeking a Network Engineer to join a highly technical infrastructure environment in Portugal. The role focuses on administering Cisco and HP Aruba switching, routing and wireless, while managing FortiGate and SonicWall firewalls for robust security.

You will oversee VPN connectivity, VMware virtualised networks, and contribute to major SD-WAN and LAN/Wi‑Fi refresh initiatives. You will own network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive changes through CAB processes.

Formación

• Hands-on experience with Cisco and HP Aruba networking across switching, routing and wireless.
• Practical security experience with FortiGate and SonicWall in enterprise networks.
• Experience supporting VPNs and VMware virtualised environments.
• Familiarity with automation using Python or Ansible is valued.

Responsabilidades

• Configure and troubleshoot VPN connectivity and VMware virtualised networks.

• Identify repeat tasks and introduce automation with Python/Ansible; maintain runbooks.

The Role

We're looking for a Network Engineer to join a highly technical infrastructure environment, working across a diverse multi-vendor network estate. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex connectivity challenges, managing network security, and contributing to large-scale infrastructure initiatives such as SD-WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi modernisation.

Your Mission:

Network Engineering: Administer, configure, and support enterprise Cisco and HP Aruba switching, routing, and wireless environments, ensuring network stability and performance.

Network Security: Manage FortiGate and SonicWall firewalls, including security policies, rules, firmware, and overall platform health.

Connectivity & Infrastructure: Configure and troubleshoot VPN connectivity and support networking across VMware virtualised environments.

Network Transformation: Contribute to major infrastructure initiatives, including SD-WAN implementations and LAN/Wi-Fi refresh programmes, from configuration and migration through to testing and handover.

Service Management: Own network incidents and service requests through to resolution, perform root cause analysis, and manage infrastructure changes through established CAB processes.

Automation & Improvement: Identify repetitive operational tasks and introduce automation using tools such as Python and Ansible, while continuously improving network reliability and security.

Documentation & Governance: Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and operational runbooks while ensuring infrastructure follows security and least-privilege principles.

What We Are Looking For:

Network Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Cisco and HP Aruba networking technologies across switching, routing, and wireless environments.

Security & Connectivity: Practical experience with FortiGate, SonicWall, VPN technologies, and network security.

Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience supporting network connectivity within VMware virtualised environments.

Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in environments where vendor support represents the next escalation level.

Automation: Exposure to network automation and scripting using Python, Ansible, or similar technologies is highly valued.

Transformation Projects: Experience with SD-WAN, LAN/Wi-Fi deployments, or wireless surveys will be considered a strong advantage.
