Job summary

GBL Tech is seeking a Network Engineer to join a highly technical infrastructure environment in Portugal. The role focuses on administering Cisco and HP Aruba switching, routing and wireless, while managing FortiGate and SonicWall firewalls for robust security.

You will oversee VPN connectivity, VMware virtualised networks, and contribute to major SD-WAN and LAN/Wi‑Fi refresh initiatives. You will own network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive changes through CAB processes.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Cisco and HP Aruba networking across switching, routing and wireless.
• Practical security experience with FortiGate and SonicWall in enterprise networks.
• Experience supporting VPNs and VMware virtualised environments.
• Familiarity with automation using Python or Ansible is valued.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure and support Cisco/HP Aruba switching, routing and wireless environments.
• Manage FortiGate and SonicWall firewalls, including security policies and firmware health.
• Configure and troubleshoot VPN connectivity and VMware virtualised networks.
• Contribute to SD-WAN and LAN/Wi-Fi refresh projects from design to handover.
• Own incidents, perform root cause analysis and manage changes via CAB processes.
• Identify repeat tasks and introduce automation with Python/Ansible; maintain runbooks.
