Job summary

SOMFY, a global leader in home automation, is seeking a Material Planner to secure material availability for production by coordinating suppliers, planning, logistics and warehouses. You will optimize inventory, manage procurement priorities and ensure on-time material delivery.

The role requires strong analytical skills, ERP/MRP experience (preferably SAP S/4HANA), and excellent communication across internal teams and external suppliers. A manufacturing background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in material planning, procurement planning, supply planning, production planning or logistics planning.
  • Good understanding of inventory management, procurement lead times, supplier follow-up and transport flows.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, identify inconsistencies and anticipate shortage risks.
  • Capacity to manage priorities in a fast-changing operational environment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • English language proficiency at B2 level minimum, with ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and international stakeholders.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Material Planning, Supply Planning, Procurement Planning or similar role in manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP environments, preferably SAP S/4HANA.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of MES is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing with interaction between suppliers, production planning, warehouse and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Update long-term procurement plans on an 18 to 24-month horizon.
  • Perform stock sizing to balance material availability and inventory optimization.
  • Evaluate shortage risks and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.
  • Analyze requirements and send purchase orders, forecasts and procurement priorities to suppliers.
  • Manage pre-production requirements, ramp-ups and ramp-downs to support product lifecycle.
  • Book transport flows and track execution for timely material delivery.
  • Follow up supplier acknowledgments, overdue deliveries and confirmations.
  • Prioritize daily deliveries according to production needs and shortage risks.
  • Ensure master data reliability in the information system (planning, procurement, logistics).
  • Lead continuous improvement plans related to procurement planning, supplier follow-up, stock accuracy and material flow.

Job Description

1. Role overview

This role ensures the availability of components and trading products at the required date to support production plans, while optimizing inventory levels, procurement planning and transport organization. The Material Planner acts as a key interface between suppliers, purchasing, planning, production, logistics and warehouse teams to secure material flows and prevent supply disruptions.

3. Main responsibilities

  • Update long-term procurement plans on an 18 to 24-month horizon.
  • Perform stock sizing activities to ensure the right balance between material availability and inventory optimization.
  • Evaluate shortage risks, identify potential supply disruptions and take corrective actions in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze the consistency of requirements and send purchase orders, forecasts and procurement priorities to suppliers.
  • Manage pre-production requirements, ramp-ups and ramp-downs to support product lifecycle and production changes.
  • Book transport flows and track their execution to ensure timely delivery of materials and trading products.
  • Follow up supplier receipt acknowledgments, overdue deliveries and delivery confirmations.
  • Give priority instructions on daily deliveries according to production needs and shortage risks.
  • Ensure the reliability of master data in the information system, including planning, procurement and logistics parameters.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement plans related to procurement planning, supplier follow-up, stock accuracy and material flow performance.

4. Performance indicators

  • Impact of supply disruptions on customer service rate.
  • Healthy Stock Ratio.
  • Days of Inventory Outstanding.
  • Number and criticality of shortages affecting production plans.
  • On-time execution of procurement and transport follow-up actions.

5. Target recruitment profile

The ideal profile is a structured and analytical supply chain professional with strong planning discipline, good understanding of procurement flows, supplier follow-up, inventory management and transport coordination. The person should be able to anticipate risks, prioritize actions and work closely with production, purchasing, logistics and suppliers to secure material availability.

6. Main interfaces

The role will interact regularly with Quality teams, NPI/EOL coordinators, Transport teams, Warehouse teams, Purchasing teams, Production, Planning, Technical Data teams, suppliers and transport service providers. It requires strong coordination to align material needs, supplier commitments, transport execution and production priorities.

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with direct interaction between suppliers, production planning, warehouse and logistics operations.

Valued skills and experience

  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing or shared services supply chain environments.
