Job summary

CTR in Portugal is seeking a Material Planning Manager to lead material planning and purchasing activities, ensuring timely supply, inventory control, and production support across functions.

The role requires at least 5 years in Purchasing/Material Planning within manufacturing, and strong ERP/MRP and Excel skills, plus leadership and English proficiency (B2+).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (supply chain, logistics, or engineering).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Material Planning, Procurement, or related functions, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience in team leadership or coordination; first-level management preferred.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing, MRP, inventory management, supplier management, and risk mitigation.
• Experience with NPI, cost-reduction, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP and Excel/data analysis.
• Professional proficiency in English (B2 minimum; C1 preferred).
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work across functions in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily purchasing operations to ensure timely material delivery and inventory alignment.
• Support risk mitigation by identifying supply issues and proposing solutions.
• Collaborate with Planning, Customer Service, and NPI teams to synchronize supply and demand.
• Participate in NPI, cost reduction, and improvement initiatives from a purchasing perspective.
• Monitor PO status and reduce excess and obsolete materials.
• Track material exposure from customer forecasts and report to leadership.
• Support implementation of tools and processes that improve purchasing efficiency.
• Maintain supplier communication and contribute to effective purchasing strategies.
• Assist in resolving purchasing issues and support cross-functional coordination.

Job Purpose

Requirements/Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Material Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related function, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in team leadership, supervision, or coordination; first-level management experience is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of purchasing, MRP/material planning, inventory management, supplier management, and supply risk mitigation.
• Experience managing material shortages, supplier delivery performance, purchase orders, inventory exposure, and excess & obsolete materials.
• Experience supporting NPI, cost-reduction, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and strong Microsoft Excel/data-analysis skills.
• Professional proficiency in English (B2 minimum; C1 preferred).
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively across functions and manage priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
