Job summary

EDP, a global energy company, is recruiting a Market Modeling Specialist in Lisbon. You will generate and validate day-ahead and intraday forecasts for electricity load and surplus generation, monitor deviations, and refine forecasting models.

You will extract data for monitoring and regulatory needs while driving process improvements and automation across teams. The role requires 3–8 years of experience, advanced time series forecasting, Python, SQL, and Power BI, with familiarity in GCP/Azure

• Advanced knowledge of time series forecasting.
• Advanced knowledge of Python applied to time series forecasting.
• Proficiency in SQL and Power BI (DAX).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with energy markets/sector.
• Strong attention to detail and process orientation.
• Analytical mindset with proven problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to translate analyses into insights for top management.

Responsibilities

• Generate and validate short-term (day-ahead/intraday) forecasts for electricity load and surplus generation across geographies.
• Monitor forecast deviations, analyze root causes, and propose improvement measures.
• Maintain and develop forecasting models to reduce forecast deviations, including recalibration and exogenous variables.
• Extract and prepare data for regulatory reporting and business monitoring.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of operational processes, including automation and standardization.
• Collaborate with other areas to develop shared processes and methodologies.

Our Forecast & Modeling team intends to recruit a Market Modeling Specialist.

What you will do:

• Generate and validate short-term (day-ahead/intraday) forecasts for electricity load and surplus generation (post self-consumption) across all relevant geographies
• Monitor forecast deviations, analyze root causes, and propose cost-benefit improvement measures.
• Maintain and develop forecasting models to reduce forecast deviations, including recalibration and integration of exogenous variables.
• Extract, process, and provide relevant information from data systems/sources to support business monitoring and prepare datasets for regulatory reporting.
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, including automation, standardization, and control enhancements.
• Actively collaborate with other areas of the organization in the development of shared processes/procedures/methodologies.
