Job summary

Locke Santa Joana in Lisbon is seeking a practical maintenance handyperson to service and repair apartments, carry out painting, and keep our properties guest-ready with pride and care. You will report to the Maintenance Manager, work five days a week with flexible location, and be on-call for maintenance needs on a rota.

You’ll liaise with contractors and support health and safety duties. Ideal candidates have plumbing, gas, or electrical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, good time

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred.
• Trade qualifications in plumbing, gas or electrics are a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain apartments and common areas to guest-ready standards.
• Repair, paint, and upkeep apartments; assist with refurbishments as needed.
• Be on-call for maintenance issues on a rota basis and handle urgent tasks.

You’ll make Locke feel like home by keeping our building and apartments looking fresh, so our guests feel comfortable, relaxed and cared-for. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll service, repair, paint, and upkeep apartments with pride and care.

• Making sure apartments are looking their best ready for guests’ arrivals
• Keeping apartments looking great and working smoothly throughout guests’ stays
• Carrying out maintenance quickly and efficiently when needed
• Looking ahead to possible future maintenance issues and proactively resolving them
• Being on-call for maintenance needs, including out-of-hours on a rota system
• Supporting management in staying on top of health and safety duties
• Managing new building works and projects, including supporting on refurbishments
• Liaising with and managing contractors
• Being happy working both on your own and as part of a team
• Being an active member of the team in meetings and development sessions
• Handing over thoroughly to front desk to make sure the housekeeping team is up-to-speed with maintenance developments
• Working closely with the team to ensure uninterrupted service to guests
• Communicating calmly with guests to resolve any issues

What you’ll need.

• Ideally experience in a customer-facing role
• Practical knowledge of plumbing, gas or electrics (trade qualifications a plus)
• Intuitive customer service skills
• Brain built for problem solving
• Good decision-making skills
• Confidence to act quickly and take smart risks based on insight
• Basic grasp of spoken and written English
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Rock-solid time management
• Flexible approach and a can-do attitude

When and where

• You’ll work40hours, across five days per week
