Job summary

Mozambique LNG is seeking a Stevedore Foreman to lead port cargo-handling teams at Afungi, with a 75-day on / 21-day off rotation. You will coordinate vessel loading, discharge and quayside operations, ensuring safety and adherence to work plans.

Ideal candidates communicate fluently in Portuguese and English, have port cargo-handling supervision experience, and can interpret cargo lists and lifting plans. Rotation and on-site duties apply.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Portuguese and English, written and spoken.
• Experience supervising stevedoring or port cargo-handling teams including vessel loading/discharge.
• Practical knowledge of rigging, lifting accessories and safe cargo handling.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily stevedoring activities and allocate duties per shift.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings in Portuguese and English.
• Coordinate vessel and quayside activities with vessel reps and cargo teams.
• Ensure work areas and routes are prepared before operations.
• Verify personnel competency and task authorization.
• Follow method statements, risk assessments and lifting plans.
• Coordinate riggers/banksmen with lifting supervisor and maintain clear communication.
• Inspect lifting accessories and remove defective items from service.
• Monitor cargo handling, identify damage or discrepancies, and report promptly.
• Maintain safe traffic flow and segregation of pedestrians during transfer.
• Monitor weather and operational conditions; stop work if unsafe.
• Maintain shift records and provide clear handovers; close out actions.
