Job summary

Cbtalents is seeking a Stevedoring Superintendent / Operations Manager for a 75 days on / 21 days off rotation in Afungi, Mozambique. You will supervise daily stevedoring activities, coordinate vessel and quayside operations, and ensure adherence to method statements and lifting plans.

Fluent in Portuguese and English, you will lead multinational crews, deliver toolbox talks, verify personnel competence, and maintain shift records. Prior LNG/oil and gas project experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Portuguese and English, spoken and written.
• Experience supervising stevedoring or port cargo-handling teams.
• Experience supporting construction projects or handling project cargo in port, marine terminal or similar.
• Knowledge of rigging, lifting accessories, signalling, cargo securing and safe cargo-handling practices.
• Ability to interpret cargo lists and loading/discharge plans.
• Experience delivering toolbox talks and implementing risk assessments and method statements.
• Willingness to work on site in Afungi on a 75-day on / 21-day off rotation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily stevedoring activities and allocate duties per shift plan.
• Coordinate vessel and quayside activities with vessel reps, lifting teams and cargo tally personnel.
• Verify work areas, access routes and cargo landing areas are prepared; ensure personnel are competent.
• Ensure cargo handling follows method statements, risk assessments and lifting plans.
• Monitor weather and conditions; stop work when unsafe and maintain shift records.
• Provide clear handovers and follow up on corrective actions.
