We are looking for an experienced Lifting Supervisor to support the delivery of a major data centre construction project in Sines, Portugal.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising lifting operations across site, ensuring all activities are planned, coordinated and carried out safely in accordance with approved lift plans, site procedures and relevant legislation. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term project stability, with accommodation and transport support provided.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all lifting operations across the project.
- Ensure lifting activities are completed in accordance with approved lift plans and risk assessments.
- Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks with lifting teams.
- Coordinate crane operators, riggers, slingers/signallers and other personnel involved in lifting activities.
- Verify that lifting equipment, accessories and certification are compliant and within inspection dates.
- Ensure exclusion zones and safe working areas are established before lifting operations begin.
- Monitor weather conditions and site constraints that may affect lifting activities.
- Liaise with construction managers, supervisors, logistics teams and subcontractors regarding planned lifts.
- Identify potential lifting hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Stop lifting operations where unsafe conditions or deviations from the approved lift plan are identified.
- Maintain lifting documentation, inspection records and relevant site paperwork.
- Support the planning of complex and critical lifting activities where required.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all lifting operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Lifting Supervisor on major construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, crane activities, rigging and lifting accessories.
- Experience working with mobile cranes, tower cranes and/or specialist lifting equipment.
- Ability to interpret lift plans, method statements and risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of construction site health and safety requirements.
- Confident coordinating multiple lifting teams and subcontractors.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Data centre, mission critical, industrial or large-scale construction experience preferred.
- Relevant lifting supervision certification such as CPCS, NPORS, CSCS or equivalent internationally recognised qualification.
- Ability to work in Portugal and provide relevant right-to-work documentation.

Pay range and compensation package
- Monday to Friday working pattern.
- Some weekend work available or required, paid at an additional rate.
