About the Role
A leading international data centre contractor is seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to join a major data centre construction project in Portugal.
The Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the movement, storage and distribution of materials, equipment and plant across the construction site.
Working closely with the Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Warehouse and subcontractor teams, the successful candidate will ensure that materials are delivered to the correct location, at the correct time and in line with the construction programme.
This is a fast-paced site-based role where effective logistics planning and coordination will be critical to maintaining project progress and avoiding delays to construction activities.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in large-scale construction logistics, preferably within data centres, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial or other complex construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day logistics operations across the data centre construction site.
- Coordinate the delivery, receipt, movement, storage and distribution of materials and equipment.
- Develop and maintain effective site logistics plans and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate incoming deliveries with suppliers, subcontractors and project teams.
- Ensure materials are available at the point of installation in line with the construction programme.
- Coordinate deliveries to minimise disruption to site operations and construction activities.
- Manage delivery booking systems and site access requirements.
- Coordinate vehicle movements, unloading areas, laydown areas and material storage locations.
- Supervise the safe unloading, movement and storage of materials and equipment.
- Ensure materials are stored correctly and protected from damage, contamination or environmental conditions.
- Work closely with procurement and project teams to monitor upcoming material requirements.
- Identify potential material shortages or delivery issues and elevate them before they impact the programme.
- Track material deliveries from arrival through to distribution to the relevant work areas.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, stock movements and material locations.
- Coordinate the movement of large or specialist equipment around the site.
- Liaise with subcontractors to understand upcoming material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate logistics requirements with construction sequencing and programme milestones.
- Assist with planning for major deliveries, specialist equipment and project-critical materials.
- Ensure site logistics activities comply with project health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with the HSE team regarding traffic management, pedestrian routes, lifting operations and safe material handling.
- Monitor site storage areas and ensure they remain organised, accessible and safe.
- Supervise logistics operatives and coordinate activities with relevant site personnel.
- Support implementation of efficient material handling and site distribution processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce delays, congestion and unnecessary material movements.
- Participate in daily and weekly coordination meetings.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Management team regarding logistics activities, constraints and upcoming requirements.
- Support project close-out activities, including the removal and return of surplus materials, equipment and temporary facilities.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Logistics Supervisor, Site Logistics Supervisor, Construction Logistics Coordinator, Logistics Manager or similar role.
- Strong experience within large-scale construction projects.
- Experience working on data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial or mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction site logistics and material management.
- Experience coordinating deliveries, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams.
- Experience managing site storage, laydown areas and material distribution.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple deliveries and competing site requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing and project programmes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of construction site health and safety requirements.
- Experience with logistics planning software, material tracking systems or construction management systems is advantageous.
- Previous experience working on large international construction projects is desirable.
- Relevant logistics, construction or supply chain qualification is advantageous.
