Job summary

Post Company in Lisbon, Portugal is seeking a Lead Java Developer to drive enterprise software delivery. You will lead backend services with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices, while mentoring peers and promoting AI-assisted development practices.

You will collaborate with Delivery, Architecture and Product teams in an Agile, hybrid environment, contribute to CI/CD, testing strategies, and documentation, and ensure secure, scalable software delivery.

Qualifications

• Senior Java Developer with enterprise-scale delivery experience.
• Experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST, microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, IaC, and observability.

Responsibilities

Function Description / Professional Tasks

As a Lead Java Developer, you will be responsible for the implementation, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of business‑critical software applications using Java and modern full‑stack technologies, driving software implementation excellence, engineering best practices, and the effective adoption of AI‑assisted development, while ensuring alignment with the target architecture and engineering standards defined by the Architecture Owner.
What you can do
−Work closely with the Delivery Team Lead, Architecture Owner, Product Owner, and fellow engineers to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
−Contribute to agile planning, estimation, and delivery activities.
−Collaborate with the Architecture Owner to ensure software solutions align with architectural principles, engineering standards, security requirements, and the target technology roadmap.
−Develop and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, event‑driven architectures, and cloud‑native technologies.
−Contribute to the development and maintenance of modern frontend applications using Angular, React, or similar frameworks.
−Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices to ensure high standards of code quality, maintainability, performance, and security.
−Implement and maintain automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, end‑to‑end, and performance testing, in collaboration with the Test team.
−Support application operations, troubleshooting, incident resolution, root‑cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
−Work with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, and observability tools to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
−Drive the adoption of modern software engineering practices, including AI‑assisted development, code generation, automated testing, and developer productivity tools.
−Leverage AI‑powered development solutions to improve software delivery, code quality, testing, documentation, operational efficiency, and developer productivity while ensuring security, compliance, and maintainability standards.
−Mentor and support developers by sharing knowledge and promoting engineering best practices, including the effective and responsible use of AI‑assisted development tools.
−Contribute to technical documentation, development standards, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives across the engineering organization.

Personal Skills and Education

What you bring
−Proven experience as a Senior Java Developer or Lead Developer delivering enterprise‑scale software solutions.
−Strong hands‑on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and modern software development practices.
−Experience developing and operating cloud‑native applications using platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including container technologies and Kubernetes.
−Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code, and software observability.
−Experience working with relational databases and modern frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar technologies.
−Proven experience leveraging AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or equivalent solutions to improve software delivery and developer productivity.
−Understanding of quality, security, governance, and compliance considerations related to AI‑assisted software development.
−Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
−Experience mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practices within Agile delivery teams.
−Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, Kanban, or similar methodologies.

Education
−University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
