Workato is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a skilled team building core internal infrastructure and developer-facing systems. You’ll oversee a group working on evaluation engines, data processing, and cross-language libraries, shaping how engineers plan and deliver across projects.

You’ll mentor senior engineers, drive roadmaps, and partner with Product and Security to ship reliable, scalable software in a fast-paced AI-enabled environment.

Qualificações

• Significant software engineering experience before or alongside engineering management.
• Experience managing senior, autonomous engineers.
• Strong background in platform/network/backend infrastructure or distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, release engineering, developer tooling, or internal engineering platforms.
• Experience owning roadmaps and delivering multi-quarter engineering initiatives.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering practices.
• Experience managing technical debt alongside product and business priorities.
• Ability to understand complex technical discussions without owning every implementation decision.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills.
• Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.
• A pragmatic approach to engineering processes: enough structure to be effective, without bureaucracy.

Responsabilidades

• Lead a strong engineering team with ownership of technical domains.
• Team mostly Rust; also libraries in Go, Ruby, Java, Python, and WASM.
• Regular 1:1s, feedback, performance management, hiring, onboarding, and team health.
• Create an autonomous environment with clear priorities, ownership, and accountability.
• Plan capacity and hire when needed.
• Define product direction with Product Managers and VP; decide what to build and order.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Product Security to deliver high-quality products.
• Shift quality and security scans left using new tools.
• Own planning across multiple engineering workstreams.
• Create visibility into priorities, dependencies, timelines, and resources.
• Turn broad technical direction into an executable roadmap.
• Identify and remove blockers; balance new development with technical debt.
• Define engineering metrics to drive improvement and keep stakeholders informed.
• Plan release and update cycles; maintain product quality and triage defects.
