Job summary

act digital is seeking a skilled Java Developer to join an Agile team in Lisbon. The role focuses on evolving and maintaining critical backend solutions with a hybrid work model (3 days in the office). You will develop features, troubleshoot issues, and design scalable backend systems with Oracle database logic.

You will mentor peers, participate in Scrum ceremonies, and ensure code quality, security, and performance. Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java backend development and related frameworks.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases, especially Oracle.
• Familiar with Java EE components (EJB, JMS, JPA, CDI, JAX-WS, JAX-RS).
• Hands-on Agile/Scrum experience and code review practices.
• Proficient with Git and Maven tooling.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).

What you'll do:

• Develop new features and enhancements for Java backend applications
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and implement fixes for identified issues
• Participate in the design and implementation of technical solutions with a high degree of autonomy
• Develop and maintain Oracle database logic
• Support junior team members through mentoring and code reviews
• Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and task estimation activities
• Ensure code quality, security, and performance standards are met

Required skills:

• Solid experience in Java development (Core/SE)
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Experience reading, adapting, and developing Oracle Stored Procedures
• Good understanding of Java EE architecture and specifications (EJB, JMS, JPA, CDI, JAX-WS, JAX-RS)
• Hands‑on experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Proficiency with Git and Maven
• Fluency in both Portuguese and English (written and spoken)
