Acca Careers is seeking a Valuation Specialist to join an investment management company in Portugal. The role focuses on independent valuation analysis of investments across managed funds, combining financial modelling, portfolio analysis and robust valuation methodologies.

You will implement fair-value processes for private and illiquid assets, review valuations, develop models, challenge assumptions, and support NAV, regulatory and investor reporting.

Qualificações

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, with significant exposure to the valuation of private and illiquid assets.
• Experience preparing or reviewing fair-value valuations of unlisted equity investments.
• Previous experience within a Big 4 valuation practice, independent valuation firm, or investment fund.
• Advanced financial modelling and strong Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of fair-value methodologies and illiquid assets valuation.
• Proficiency in Portuguese and English is mandatory.

Responsabilidades

• Implement and maintain valuation methodologies for private and illiquid investments.
• Perform and review periodic fair-value valuations of portfolio investments.
• Develop and maintain financial and valuation models; assess key assumptions and market inputs.
• Independently challenge valuation assumptions and information from Investment team and portfolio companies.
• Analyse portfolio companies' financials, budgets, and KPIs for valuation and monitoring.
• Maintain valuation files and documentation.
• Prepare valuation materials and analysis for the Board, governance bodies, auditors, and external providers.
• Prepare periodic independent portfolio performance and valuation analysis.
• Support NAV, regulatory and investor reporting with accurate portfolio and valuation data.
• Coordinate with Finance, Risk, Investment teams and external providers on valuation matters.

This is a highly analytical position combining financial modelling, investment valuation and portfolio analysis. The valuation function operates independently from portfolio management, ensuring robust and objective assessment of portfolio investments.

Description

• Implement and maintain appropriate valuation methodologies for private and illiquid investments;

Profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management or a related field;
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, with significant exposure to the valuation of private and illiquid assets;
• Demonstrable experiencepreparing or reviewing fair-value valuations of unlisted equity investments;
• Previous experience within a Big 4 valuation practice, independent valuation firm, regulated asset manager or investment fund;
• Advanced financial modelling and Excel skills;
• Strong knowledge of fair-value methodologies and the valuation of illiquid assets;
• Experience analysing portfolio-company financial information, budgets and KPIs will be highly valued;
• Strong accountingknowledge and financial statement analysis capabilities;
• Ability to independently challenge assumptions and clearly document valuation conclusions;
• High level of accuracy,analytical rigour and attention to detail;
• Professional proficiency in Portuguese and English is mandatory.
