Job summary

Modaxo, a global technology group focused on People Transportation, is seeking an IT Operations Lead. This fully remote role is based in Portugal and supports the UK/EMEA/Asia portfolio across ~30 business units and 4,000 users.

You will own design, deployment and monitoring of enterprise services, especially Microsoft M365, SaaS platforms and integration into the IT ecosystem, while partnering with Security, Applications, Finance, HR and BU IT teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in IT operations, infrastructure or enterprise services.
• 3+ years in a lead role.
• Experience managing IT services across a large multi-entity, multi-region organisation.
• Deep hands-on expertise administering and governing Microsoft M365 at enterprise scale.
• Strong track record implementing and managing SaaS platforms, including vendor and contract management.
• Solid grounding in enterprise integration, APIs and identity and security frameworks.
• Experience with ITSM/ITIL, monitoring tools and SLA/KPI management.
• Experience in an M&A-heavy or private-equity-backed portfolio is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise IT services and roll out solutions with minimal disruption.
• Establish proactive monitoring, alerts, and reports for service health.
• Define and track SLAs and KPIs; drive improvements.
• Own capacity planning, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Manage full M365 environment: Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, Power Platform.
• Define governance, security baselines, licensing strategy, cost optimisation.
• Oversee identity and access management, conditional access and device management.
• Drive adoption, change management; manage Microsoft relationships.
• Lead SaaS evaluation, onboarding, renewals, offboarding.
• Vendor management: contracts, SLAs, performance reviews.
• Maintain SaaS registry; UK/EMEA compliance and cost rationalization.
• Be the primary IT contact for integrating enterprise solutions.
• Support M&A integration; onboard acquired units onto enterprise platforms.
• Lead and mentor IT operations resources; standardise processes.
• Report on service performance and risks to senior leadership.

About the Role

Are you an IT operations leader who enjoys running enterprise services at scale across a diverse group of businesses?

Modaxo is looking for an IT Operations Lead to own the design, execution and monitoring of enterprise services across our UK/EMEA/Asia portfolio of 2 groups, 5 sub-groups and around 30 business units, supporting approximately 4,000 users.

You will own the health, performance and evolution of our Microsoft M365 environment, lead the implementation of SaaS platforms, and act as the key enabler for integrating enterprise solutions into the wider IT ecosystem, working closely with Security, Applications, Finance, HR and business unit IT teams.

This is a fully remote role based in Portugal. Occasional travel may be required.

You will be accountable for reliable, scalable and secure IT operations across a large, geographically distributed, multi-entity organisation, leading direct and matrixed resources and reporting on service performance to senior IT leadership.

Areas of Responsibility

Enterprise Services Design and Monitoring

• Design enterprise IT services and lead solution rollouts with minimal disruption to the business.
• Establish proactive monitoring, alerting and reporting to track service health, performance and availability.
• Define and track SLAs and KPIs, driving continuous improvement from operational data and incident trends.
• Own capacity planning, resilience and disaster recovery for enterprise platforms.

Microsoft M365 Management

• Manage the full M365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune and Power Platform.
• Define governance, security baselines, licensing strategy and cost optimisation.
• Oversee identity and access management, conditional access and device management.
• Drive adoption and change management, and manage the relationship with Microsoft and partners.

SaaS Platform Implementation and Management

• Lead evaluation, selection and implementation of SaaS platforms against business requirements.
• Manage the full SaaS lifecycle, from onboarding and integration to renewals and offboarding.
• Own vendor management, including contracts, SLAs and performance reviews.
• Maintain a SaaS register, ensure UK/EMEA compliance and rationalise to reduce redundancy and cost.

Integration, Leadership and Governance

• Be the primary IT point of contact for integrating enterprise solutions into business unit IT ecosystems.
• Support M&A integration, onboarding newly acquired business units onto enterprise platforms and standards.
• Lead and mentor IT operations resources, and drive standardisation and documentation of IT processes.
• Report on service performance, risks and improvement initiatives to senior IT leadership.

Profile

You are a hands-on IT operations leader who combines strong execution discipline with a security-first mindset. You build trust across business units, functions and geographies.

• 8+ years in IT operations, infrastructure or enterprise services, including 3+ years in a lead role.
• Experience managing IT services across a large, multi-entity, multi-region organisation.
• Deep hands-on expertise administering and governing Microsoft M365 at enterprise scale.
• Strong track record implementing and managing SaaS platforms, including vendor and contract management.

• Experience with ITSM/ITIL, monitoring tools and SLA/KPI management.

About You

You are analytical, collaborative and comfortable managing complexity across a distributed organisation, with strong communication and stakeholder influence. Experience in an M&A-heavy or private-equity-backed portfolio is an advantage, as are Microsoft 365 Administrator or Enterprise Administrator Expert, ITIL Foundation and PMP certifications.

This is a full-time, remote role based in Portugal, covering business units across the UK, EMEA and Asia. Occasional travel may be required.
