Job summary

Addvolt, a technology powerhouse within the Carrier group, seeks a Mechanical Engineer – Diesel Engines to join the Systems & Application team in Matosinhos. The role focuses on diesel-engine power sources for transport refrigeration, including conventional and hybrid architectures, with emphasis on integration, validation and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in internal-combustion systems, experience with engine maps and thermal management, and fluency

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years in diesel-engine integration or powertrain engineering.
• Experience with engine performance maps and fuel data.
• Strong knowledge of engine mechanical, thermal, and auxiliary systems.

Responsibilities

• Support diesel-engine power-source concepts for transport refrigeration platforms.
• Define mechanical and thermal requirements for diesel engines and subsystems.
• Develop and review mechanical layouts and installation concepts for engines and related components.
• Assess engine performance, fuel consumption, operating points, durability and thermal behaviour from test/field data.
• Collaborate with Systems, Electrical and Controls Engineering teams to define integrated powertrain architectures.
• Lead root-cause analysis for engine or durability issues and support design verification activities.
• Create and maintain technical specifications, drawings, test plans, validation reports and installation documentation.
