Job summary

Addvolt, part of Carrier, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to advance diesel-engine integration for transport refrigeration in Matosinhos. You will work across systems to optimize hybrid architectures, assess performance and lead mechanical design activities with suppliers and engineering teams.

Ideal candidates have a master’s in mechanical/automotive/energy engineering, 3–5+ years of diesel experience, strong IC knowledge and fluent English, with Creo and Windchill familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Energy Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years in diesel-engine integration or powertrain engineering.
• Strong knowledge of IC engines, cooling and fuel systems.
• Experience with engine performance maps and validation data.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and mechanical design processes.
• Fluent written/spoken English; teamwork across international groups.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate diesel-engine concepts for transport refrigeration.
• Define mechanical/thermal requirements for engines and subsystems.
• Create layouts, brackets and installation concepts for engines/generators.
• Assess performance, fuel consumption, durability and thermal behaviour.
• Collaborate on powertrain architectures and system interfaces.
• Lead root-cause analyses for mechanical and durability issues.
• Support supplier reviews, prototyping and design releases.
