Volkswagen Group Services in Lisbon is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to join the Vehicle Engineering Team. You will develop and review electronic hardware designs for automotive ECUs, perform analyses, and collaborate across international teams to ensure safety, reliability, and quality.

The role focuses on bridging hardware, software and data, with opportunities to contribute to functional safety analyses and supplier coordination in a hybrid work environment.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years in automotive hardware development, safety-related ECUs.
• Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, PCB development.
• Experience with schematic reviews and hardware layout evaluations.
• Knowledge of digital and analog circuit technology.
• Experience with measurement technology and sensor systems.
• Familiarity with automotive development processes and documentation.
• Experience with Codebeamer, DOORS and AI tools.
• Experience using Altium Designer or similar EDA software.
• Strong English communication; German is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and review electronic hardware designs, including schematics and PCB layouts.
• Perform hardware simulations and technical analyses within the development area.
• Design and define electronic circuit concepts for automotive control units.
• Support functional safety analyses, including FMEDA.
• Investigate hardware failures and perform root cause analyses.
• Collaborate with customer engineering departments during design reviews.
• Support supplier management aligning with requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation and engineering calculations.
• Contribute to hardware cost estimations and feasibility assessments.
• Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and customer processes.
