A Volkswagen Group Services, sediada em Lisboa, procura um Engenheiro de Hardware Design para integrar a equipa de Vehicle Engineering. O foco é ligar hardware, software e dados para veículos mais seguros e mais eficientes, com ênfase em sistemas de bateria e direção.

O papel envolve desenho de circuitos, simulações e validação de hardware. O candidato ideal tem 3–5+ anos de experiência em hardware automotivo, domínio de Altium Designer e ferramentas de gestão de requisitos, com inglês forte;

Qualificações

  • Diploma de Bacharelado ou Mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica ou disciplina técnica equivalente.
  • 3–5+ anos de experiência em desenvolvimento de hardware automotivo,preferencialmente envolvendo unidades de controlo elétrico de segurança.
  • Conhecimento de componentes eletrónicos, desenho de circuitos e princípios de desenvolvimento PCB.
  • Experiência em revisão de esquemas e avaliação de layout de hardware.
  • Conhecimento de tecnologia de sensores, tanto digitais quanto analógicos.
  • Familiaridade com processos de desenvolvimento automotivo e documentação de engenharia.
  • Experiência com ferramentas de gestão de requisitos e colaboração de engenharia, como Codebeamer, DOORS e ferramentas de IA.
  • Experiência com Altium Designer ou software de design eletrônico equivalente.
  • Boas competências de comunicação e capacidade de colaborar com equipas de engenharia multifuncionais e fornecedores.
  • Inglês escrito e falado é obrigatório; alemão é visto como diferencial.

Responsabilidades

  • Desenvolver e revisar desenhos eletrónicos, esquemas e layouts de PCB.
  • Realizar simulações e análises técnicas na área de desenvolvimento atribuída.
  • Definir conceitos de circuitos eletrónicos para unidades de controlo automotivas.
  • Apoiar análises de segurança funcional, incluindo FMEDA.
  • Investigar falhas de hardware e contribuir para a análise de causa raiz e ações corretivas.
  • Colaborar com departamentos de engenharia de clientes durante revisões de design e discussões técnicas.
  • Apoiar atividades de gestão de fornecedores, assegurando conformidade com requisitos técnicos.
  • Preparar documentação técnica, cálculos de engenharia e visões de projeto.
  • Contribuir para estimativas de custo de hardware e avaliações de viabilidade técnica.
  • Assegurar conformidade com padrões de qualidade automotivos e processos de desenvolvimento específicos do cliente.

We are currently hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to join our Vehicle Engineering Team in Lisbon. The Vehicle Engineering team plays a key role in shaping the future of data-driven vehicle development and validation. Our mission is to bridge the gap between hardware, software, and data, enabling safer and more efficient vehicles through advanced engineering and testing. Vehicle Engineering ensures the highest standards of quality and functionality in every vehicle system we interact with.

The Battery & Steering Systems Team drives the software development, testing, and validation of critical vehicle systems, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability. We design and test embedded software for battery and steering systems. By combining hardware expertise, software precision, and deep testing know-how, we help bring innovation from the lab to the road.

What will your responsibilities be?
  • Develop and review electronic hardware designs, including schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Perform hardware simulations and technical analyses within the assigned development area.
  • Design and define electronic circuit concepts for automotive control units.
  • Support the execution of functional safety analyses, including FMEDA.
  • Investigate hardware failures and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering departments during design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Support supplier management activities, ensuring alignment with technical requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering calculations, and project overviews.
  • Contribute to hardware cost estimations and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and customer-specific development processes.
What requirements are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in automotive hardware development, preferably involving safety-related electronic control units.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, and PCB development principles.
  • Experience performing schematic reviews and hardware layout evaluations.
  • Knowledge of digital and analog circuit technology.
  • Experience with measurement technology and sensor systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive development processes and engineering documentation.
  • Experience working with requirements management and engineering collaboration tools such as Codebeamer, DOORS and AI tools.
  • Experience using Altium Designer or comparable electronic design software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills are required;
  • German is considered a plus.
Preferred
  • Experience in the development of safety-critical automotive electronic control units.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with automotive product development lifecycles.
  • Experience supporting supplier technical coordination and customer engineering reviews.
  • Ability to perform technical investigations and hardware failure analyses.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in international and multidisciplinary engineering environments.
