Experimental Porto invites a Head Sommelier to oversee our wine bar operations and collaborate with the hotel wine team to deliver exceptional wine experiences. You will lead the floor service, design wine programs with the Executive Sommelier, and train the team to maintain high standards of service and knowledge.

You will report to the F&B manager and work closely with departments to create memorable wine events and tastings, while ensuring stock control and quality across all wine offerings.

Qualificações

• Proven experience as Head Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or bar.
• Knowledge of Portuguese and international wines.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide and develop a team.
• Excellent organizational skills for wine service, lists, cellar, stock and inventory.
• Attentive to detail, proactive and guest-satisfaction oriented.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and supervise the wine service across all stages of the guest experience.
• Lead the wine bar team on the floor during service.
• Support the restaurant sommelier with wine service.
• Ensure thorough wine knowledge and continuous development of the team.
• Run regular wine tastings and training sessions on producers, regions, varieties and styles.
• Manage wines by the glass and stock control; participate in inventories.
• Collaborate with the Restaurant Supervisor, Bar Manager and other departments for a seamless guest experience.
• Contribute to wine experiences, tastings, dinners and events as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas, equipment and cellar facilities.
• Identify wine quality issues and manage defects and cork taint.
