Descrição da oferta de emprego

"We energize society" by supporting our customers to make the transition to a more sustainable world, based on innovative technologies and our ability to turn ideas into reality. With nearly 100,000 employees around the world, we shape the energy systems of today and tomorrow.

As Head of On-Premise Computing, you lead Siemens Energy's global data-center and industrial-edge platforms, ensuring reliable, secure, resilient, and cost-transparent compute, storage, virtualization, private-cloud, and data-protection services. You translate infrastructure strategy into a prioritized roadmap, drive standardized operations and lifecycle management, and enable sites, factories, and applications to consume secure on-premise services through automation, governance, and product-based service delivery. Working across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders, you balance reliability, risk, cost, and modernization while reducing technology risk and strengthening operational resilience.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Customer and Site Focus: Treat infrastructure consumers and sites as customers, translate local production and application demand into supported platform choices, remove adoption friction, and align changes with business-critical windows.
  • Global Platform Leadership: Lead the global On-Premise Computing team, set clear objectives, allocate capacity, develop technical and service leadership, build succession, and create one team culture across central teams, local contributors, employees, and partners.
  • Platform-as-a-Product: Own the team roadmap and lifecycle for standardized compute, virtualization and private cloud, storage, data protection, approved container and bare-metal services. Publish service tiers, catalogues, APIs, and golden paths while managing adoption, quality, technical debt, and retirement.
  • Reliable Day-2 Operations: Ensure observability, incident and problem response, change and configuration control, capacity, patching, backup and recovery, continuity, operational documentation, and L2/L3 engineering are effective across the assigned estate.
  • Estate Visibility and Lifecycle: Maintain trustworthy discovery, inventory, and CMDB records; track supportability across hardware, firmware, hypervisors, operating platforms, and storage; and manage refresh, end-of-life, warranties, licenses, spares, and secure decommissioning.
  • Industrial Edge Standardization: Define and implement approved edge service tiers and reference patterns for compute, storage, virtualization, remote management, local resilience, and site-to-core or cloud integration without assuming ownership of OT applications or control systems.
  • Modernization and Consolidation: Identify obsolete, duplicate, or uneconomic environments; shape approved migration, modernization, and closure waves; coordinate cutover and stabilization; and complete technical and asset decommissioning with application, site, Cloud, and service owners.
  • Capacity, Facilities and Sustainability: Forecast compute, storage, rack, power, and cooling demand; provide technical requirements to site and facility owners; identify constraints; improve utilization and energy transparency; and embed sustainable, circular lifecycle practices in platform decisions.
  • Security, Compliance and Cyber Resilience: Implement approved hardening, privileged access, vulnerability remediation, immutable data protection, and cyber-recovery controls. Maintain evidence, test recovery, and elevate material policy or risk exceptions to authorized owners.
  • Providers and Commercial Outcomes: Integrate hardware vendors, colocation providers, managed-service partners, field services, and local support into one operating model. Monitor service, financial, and lifecycle outcomes, enforce knowledge transfer, and retain internal competence.
  • Executive Communication and Performance Transparency: Translate complex operational, technical, financial, and lifecycle topics into clear insights for senior stakeholders and report outcome-based performance across service health, risk, capacity, cost, sustainability, and improvement.
  • AI Enablement
  • AI-Ready Industrial Edge Foundations: Provide governed base infrastructure for approved low-latency inference, local data processing, and industrial-edge workloads, including fit-for-purpose compute, storage, resilience, remote management, observability, and lifecycle capabilities.
  • Workload Placement Collaboration: Coordinate placement and technical requirements with Cloud, Data, AI, and HPC/GECOT teams, ensuring workloads are directed to the industrial edge, central data center, specialist platform, or public cloud through the approved enterprise decision framework.
  • AIOps and Intelligent Automation: Automate provisioning, configuration, compliance, patching, observability, and recovery using reusable patterns and remote orchestration. Coordinate cross-domain platforms and agent lifecycle standards with Infrastructure Automation & AI Operations while owning implementation and outcomes in the on-premises domain.
  • Responsible Operational Adoption: Introduce AI-assisted monitoring, predictive insight, decision support, and approved automated remediation within established operational, security, risk, and change governance, with clear human accountability and measurable service outcomes.
  • AI Infrastructure Boundaries: Enable shared infrastructure foundations without assuming ownership of enterprise AI strategy, models, use cases, data products, OT applications, or the specialist HPC/GECOT platform.
What You Bring
  • Infrastructure Leadership Experience: Typically 10+ years across enterprise data centers, compute, storage, virtualization or private cloud, infrastructure platforms, edge computing, or production operations, including substantial people-leadership responsibility in a distributed or international environment.
  • Platform and Data-Center Expertise: Strong technical judgment across enterprise servers and bare metal, virtualization and hyperconverged platforms, storage, backup and recovery, approved container platforms, operating systems, remote management, colocation, and data-center operations.
  • Industrial and Edge Experience: Practical experience with industrial sites, plants, or other distributed mission-critical locations, including IT/OT boundaries, production change windows, local resilience, and constrained remote support.
  • Transformation Delivery: A track record delivering complex estate consolidation, migration, hardware and platform refresh, end-of-life remediation, data-center transition, or decommissioning programs with measurable closure.
  • Operations, Automation and Cyber Recovery: Strong knowledge of observability, SRE practices, ITSM and CMDB, configuration management, infrastructure-as-code, automation, patching, vulnerability remediation, and cyber recovery.
  • Facilities and Sustainability Understanding: Working knowledge of power, cooling, rack density, physical security, and facility resilience sufficient to define technology requirements and manage dependencies with site and facility specialists.
  • Capacity and Commercial Management: Practical command of capacity planning, lifecycle economics, capital and operating forecasts, asset and license management, colocation and hardware commercial models, and vendor performance.
  • AI and Workload Placement Judgment: Understanding of infrastructure for edge AI, local data processing, and HPC-adjacent requirements, with sound judgment on appropriate placement across edge, central data center, specialist platform, and public cloud.
  • Product and Service Mindset: Ability to turn stakeholder demand into service tiers, a coherent roadmap, golden paths, service objectives, lifecycle decisions, and an evidence-based improvement backlog.
  • Stakeholder Leadership: Excellent collaboration across sites, application teams, OT, Facilities, Cloud, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Network, Finance, and senior infrastructure leadership, with the ability to influence without relying on hierarchy.
  • Qualifications: Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant data-center, private-cloud, virtualization, storage, security, service-management, FinOps, or sustainability certifications are advantageous.
  • Languages: Fluent English is required. Additional languages are advantageous.
