Volkswagen Group Services in Lisbon is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join the Smart Cloud Factory team. You will develop and review electronic hardware designs, define circuit concepts for automotive ECUs, and support functional safety analyses in a highly collaborative environment.

The role requires 3–5+ years in automotive hardware development, strong knowledge of digital/analog circuits, Altium, and English proficiency; German is a plus. Hybrid work options are available in Lisbon.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in automotive hardware development, preferably involving safety-related electronic control units.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, and PCB development principles.
  • Experience performing schematic reviews and hardware layout evaluations.
  • Knowledge of digital and analog circuit technology.
  • Experience with measurement technology and sensor systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive development processes and engineering documentation.
  • Experience working with requirements management and engineering collaboration tools such as Codebeamer, DOORS and AI tools.
  • Experience using Altium Designer or comparable electronic design software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills are required; German is considered a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and review electronic hardware designs, including schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Perform hardware simulations and technical analyses within the assigned development area.
  • Design and define electronic circuit concepts for automotive control units.
  • Support the execution of functional safety analyses, including FMEDA.
  • Investigate hardware failures and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering departments during design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Support supplier management activities, ensuring alignment with technical requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering calculations, and project overviews.
  • Contribute to hardware cost estimations and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards and customer-specific development processes.
