Volkswagen Group Services in Lisbon is hiring a Junior AI & Data Engineer as part of the Smart Cloud Factory Team. You will help design data pipelines, work with Python for AI model tasks, and manage databases and containerized apps.

The role emphasizes collaboration across IT/OT and cloud-native practices to enable predictive maintenance and real-time quality control in a connected factory environment.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
• Some experience in Software Development, Data Engineering, or AI-related work.
• Proficiency in Python and data engineering tasks.
• Basic SQL/NoSQL databases knowledge for storage and retrieval.
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and data services.
• Awareness of CI/CD principles and Agile practices.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative communication skills.
• Very good English, written and spoken; German is a plus.

We are currently hiring a Junior AI & Data Engineer Project to join our Smart Cloud Factory Team in Lisbon.

The Smart Cloud Factory is dedicated to transforming traditional manufacturing into a fully connected, intelligent, and sustainable Smart Factory. The factory leverages digitalized and automated manufacturing processes, real-time data integration and analytics, sustainable and energy-efficient production systems, and human-machine collaboration to achieve Volkswagen’s vision of a Software-Enabled Car Company.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Assist in designing and developing data processing pipelines to enable seamless communication between IT and OT systems.
• Work with programming languages such as Python to manipulate and transform data for AI model training, analysis, and visualization.
• Support the management and optimization of SQL and NoSQL databases to store and retrieve data efficiently.
• Help build and manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes (K8s).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and contribute to designing data engineering solutions.
• Participate in ensuring data quality and integrity by supporting data validation and cleansing processes.
• Assist in implementing CI/CD practices to automate the software delivery pipeline.
• Embracing agile development methodologies, participating in sprint planning, and code reviews.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in AI, data engineering, cloud computing, and DevOps.
• Machine Learning frameworks knowledge

What requirements are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Some experience (internships, academic projects, or a first professional role) in Software Development, Data Engineering, or AI-related fields.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, or others relevant to data engineering and AI tasks.
• Basic understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and the ability to work with them for data storage and retrieval.
• Exposure to containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (K8s).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and their respective data services is a plus.
• An understanding of CI/CD principles and workflows is beneficial.
• Knowledge of agile development practices and experience working in agile teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts.
• Effective communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
• Very good English skills, both written and spoken. German is a plus.
