iTRTech Group is seeking a Senior GSM-R Optimization Engineer for a fully remote role. You will enhance radio coverage, quality, and reliability across railway networks while ensuring safety and operational requirements are met. The position demands 5+ years in GSM-R optimization and strong knowledge of railway standards.

Responsibilities include KPI monitoring, drive test analysis, and optimization of handover and frequency plans. English at B2+ and experience with ETCS/ERTMS are a plus.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced GSM-R Optimization Engineer to support railway communication network projects. You will improve radio coverage, quality, and reliability, ensuring network performance meets railway operational and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform GSM-R optimization activities covering coverage, quality, capacity, and interference analysis.
• Monitor network KPIs, analyze drive test results, and post-process measurement data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Investigate and resolve radio performance issues affecting railway operations.
• Optimize radio parameters, conduct neighbor audits, review frequency plans, and improve handover performance.
• Support network acceptance, modernization, and expansion projects in collaboration with planning, implementation, and operations teams.
• Prepare performance reports and optimization recommendations, supporting customer technical discussions and project reviews.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in GSM/GSM-R optimization.
• Strong understanding of GSM-R architecture and railway telecommunications standards.
• Experience in coverage and capacity optimization, handover optimization, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
• Strong knowledge of KPI monitoring, radio troubleshooting, and drive test evaluation.
• Experience with railway operational requirements and mission-critical communications.
• Previous involvement in railway infrastructure projects.
• English proficiency at B2+ level or above.
• Highly desirable: knowledge of ETCS and ERTMS environments.
