Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Portugal seeks an experienced GSM-R Optimization Engineer to join a hybrid team in Évora. You will perform network optimization including coverage, quality, capacity and interference analysis for railway projects, monitor KPIs, and drive test post-processing.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years in GSM-R optimization, with knowledge of ETCS/ERTMS being desirable, and will collaborate with planning, implementation and operations teams on national and international

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in GSM/GSM-R Optimization.
• Strong understanding of GSM-R architecture and railway telecom standards.
• Experience with coverage and capacity optimization, handover optimization, and frequency planning.
• Proficiency in KPI monitoring and troubleshooting for mission-critical railway networks.
• Knowledge of ETCS/ERTMS environments is highly desirable.
• Experience working on railway infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform GSM-R network optimization activities, including coverage, quality, capacity, and interference analysis.
• Monitor and analyze network KPIs and identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Conduct drive test analysis and post-processing of measurement data.
• Investigate and resolve radio network performance issues affecting railway operations.
• Optimize radio parameters to improve network reliability and customer experience.
• Support network acceptance, modernization, and expansion projects.
• Perform neighbor audits, frequency planning reviews, and handover optimization.
• Generate performance reports and provide optimization recommendations.
• Collaborate with planning, implementation, and operations teams.
• Support customer technical discussions and project reviews.
