Job summary

Convatec in Lisbon, Portugal is seeking a Junior Accountant to perform selected accounting and reporting tasks in the general ledger. You will contribute to accurate accounting, reconciliation, and reporting for assigned entities as part of a cross-functional finance team.

You will handle routine accounting activities, respond to finance queries, and support process improvements while working in a hybrid setup with one office day per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master's degree in Finance/Accounting.
• Minimum 6 months experience in accounting/finance.
• MS Office proficiency; SAP a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, creative mindset and ownership of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned accounting and reporting activities in line with processes and deadlines; update SOPs as required.
• Respond to finance queries from employees, managers, and stakeholders.
• Escalate issues to (Senior) Country Accountant or RTR Team Lead.
• Be a team player and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Support cross-process and cross-functional cooperation to achieve GBS goals.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and legislation.
• Identify improvements and participate in implementation.

Job description

The main purpose of the role is to perform selected accounting and reporting tasks in the general ledger area. The role contributes to ensure proper accounting, reconciliation, and reporting for assigned entity(ies).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform assigned accounting and reporting activities in line with defined processes and deadlines, standard operating procedures, and work instructions; update process documentation as required
• Respond to finance queries raised by employees, managers, finance partners & other internal and external stakeholders
• Escalate issues and concerns to (Senior) Country Accountant or RTR Team Lead
• Act as a team player, build good relationships with stakeholders
• Support cross-process and cross-functional cooperation required to achieve overall goals for GBS
• Secure compliance according to internal procedures and legislation
• Act proactively in identifying improvement areas, participate in the implementation

Key Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Knowledge of Technology: MS Office; SAP is an advantage
• Strong communication skills
• Taking ownership of assigned responsibilities, including self-study/research needed to execute the same
