Job summary

A General Accounting Clerk role is available in Portugal through Adecco Permanent Recruitment for a client with an international finance team. The position supports key accounting operations, ensuring accuracy across ledgers and timely reporting.

The responsibilities include fixed asset accounting, month-end close, journal entries, bank reconciliations, VAT reporting, and master data maintenance. A hybrid work model applies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• Experience in General Accounting and IFRS knowledge.
• Strong Excel and ERP experience; Oracle is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage fixed asset accounting: acquisitions, transfers, disposals, depreciation reviews.
• Support month-end closing and ensure reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, reclassifications.
• Perform bank accounting activities: reconciliations and cash matching.
• Support petty cash control and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with VAT and withholding tax reporting.
• Maintain chart of accounts and inventory records.
• Process transactions related to purchases and sales.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve service quality and efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in Finance.

Join a Global Finance Team as a General Accounting Clerk!

Are you looking to take the next step in your accounting career within an international and fast-paced environment? Our client is looking for a General Accounting Clerk to join their Finance team and support key accounting operations across the business.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and maintain fixed asset accounting, including acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation reviews
• Support month-end closing activities and ensure compliance with reporting deadlines
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, reclassifications, and inventory adjustments
• Perform bank accounting activities, including reconciliations and cash transaction matching
• Support petty cash control processes and ensure accurate accounting records
• Assist with tax-related activities, including VAT and withholding tax reporting
• Maintain accounting master data, including chart of accounts and inventory records
• Process and monitor accounting transactions related to purchases and sales
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure service quality and process efficiency
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance function

What You Bring:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Previous experience in General Accounting
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Knowledge of IAS/IFRS and local accounting regulations
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems (Oracle Financials is a plus)
• Experience in a Shared Services environment is valued
• Fluency in English
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proactive mindset with excellent communication abilities
