Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a General Ledger Accountant with French language skills for a multinational Automotive company establishing a Regional Shared Service Centre in Porto, Portugal. The role covers Fixed Assets, Leases, GL close, journal entries, consolidation, and external reporting, with migration and governance responsibilities across Europe.

Ideal candidate has 3–7 years in accounting, strong English & French, and willingness to travel during migration.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CC) is a plus.
• 3 to 7 years of experience in Accounting, with significant experience in General Ledger accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial standards.
• Ability to perform complex financial analyses and provide strategic recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in English and French.
• Ability to travel around Europe Region for migration period to SSC Porto.
• Experience in SSC environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in other European languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fixed Assets: Create and manage fixed asset records and depreciation.
• Leases: Identify lease agreements and maintain lease data.
• FA subledger: Close fixed asset subledger and reconcile with GL.
• GL close: Close and transfer data from GL sources.
• Journal entries: Record journal entries accurately and timely.
• Trial balance: Review and resolve discrepancies.
• Consolidation: Perform preliminary consolidation checks.
• Notes to Financial Statements: Prepare external financial reporting and notes.
• Compliance: Ensure policy and regulatory compliance and audit prep.
• Governance: Support GL Tower Lead with KPIs and performance reports.
• Transition: Contribute to migrations to SSC Porto (trainings, process docs).
• Training and Development: Train and develop team members.
