Gleeds is seeking a FIDIC Engineer to support contract administration on-site in Sines, Portugal. You will monitor contract compliance, maintain registers, prepare notices, and assist in claims management, supporting project delivery and customer requirements.

You will lead claims assessment, monitor contractor submissions, and coordinate audits and close-out activities, while reporting to the FIDIC Director. A degree in engineering or QS is required and English proficiency is essential.

Qualificações

  • 7 years of experience in contract administration or cost management on construction projects under FIDIC forms of contract.

Responsabilidades

  • Supporting the delivery of project objectives.
  • Maintaining contract registers covering notices, claims, variations, instructions, payments, approvals, correspondence, submissions and key contractual dates.
  • Preparing, reviewing, issuing and tracking contractual notices, correspondence, instructions and submissions.
  • Leading the preparation and initial assessment of claims, including extensions of time and other entitlements.
  • Coordinating contract assurance activities, including compliance reviews and audits.
  • Implementing contract administration procedures and reporting arrangements, while supporting the FIDIC Director with contract strategy.
  • Guiding Assistant FIDIC Engineers and escalating issues impacting project delivery.

About this opportunity

The FIDIC Engineer is responsible for supporting the administration of FIDIC construction contracts by monitoring compliance with contract requirements, maintaining accurate records, supporting notices, claims, variations, payment processes and contractual correspondence, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects and business objectives.

Location: Sines, Portugal. This role requires being on-site during the work week. No rotation or fly-in/fly-out arrangement applies

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the delivery of project objectives.
  • Delivering high-quality services and ensuring that deliverables meet Customers’ requirements.
  • Administering FIDIC contracts in accordance with applicable contract conditions, delegated authority and project procedures.
  • Maintaining contract registers covering notices, claims, variations, instructions, payments, approvals, correspondence, submissions and key contractual dates.
  • Preparing, reviewing, issuing and tracking contractual notices, correspondence, instructions and submissions.
  • Leading the preparation and initial assessment of claims, including extensions of time, delay and disruption, additional payment and other contractual entitlements.
  • Monitoring Contractor submissions, programmes, deliverables and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Coordinating contract assurance activities, including compliance reviews, audits, action tracking and close-out.
  • Implementing contract administration procedures, approval workflows and reporting arrangements, while supporting the FIDIC Director with contract strategy.
  • Identifying, monitoring and mitigating contractual and commercial risks, and reporting material issues to the FIDIC Director.
  • Attending and contributing to project, progress, contract and claims meetings, while preparing meeting records, action trackers and supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with Customers, Contractors, consultants and project team members on contractual and administrative matters.
  • Managing completion, Taking-Over, defects, handover and other close-out requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous records to support contract administration, claims, payments, audits and dispute resolution.
  • Guiding Assistant FIDIC Engineers and escalating issues, delays, omissions and non-compliances that may affect project delivery or Customer requirements.
  • Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or that might arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
  • 7 years of experience in contract administration or cost management on construction projects under FIDIC forms of contract.
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
  • Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • High level of English.
