Job summary

SIXT Portugal is seeking a Payroll Leader to oversee end-to-end payroll for multiple Western European countries. You will manage a payroll team, coordinate with external providers, and collaborate with Finance and HR to ensure compliant, accurate, and timely payroll processing.

The role blends leadership, regional coordination, and process automation in a hybrid Lisbon-based setup. You will drive standardisation, back up a peer manager, and shape continuous improvement across the payroll

Qualifications

• Leadership of multi-country payroll operations with in-house and external providers (min. 2 years).
• Deep knowledge of payroll legislation, tax and social security in Western Europe.
• Coaching, resource planning, cross-training and performance management.
• Experience with payroll systems and strong Excel capabilities; document playbooks and run quality controls.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end monthly payroll cycle for all countries in scope and ensure timely sign-off.
• Lead, coach and develop payroll team; plan workloads and cross-train backups.
• Govern external payroll providers; set service levels and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with Finance/Accounting and Local HR for data quality and GL postings.
• Standardise processes with country playbooks and identify automation opportunities.
• Act as deputy for peer payroll manager to maintain uninterrupted service.
