Job summary

agap2 indústria is seeking an Energy Transition & Project Engineer to lead energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives across multiple sites in Porto, Aveiro and Alto Alentejo. The role involves managing projects from design to commissioning, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and suppliers, and ensuring energy savings targets are achieved.

You will assess solutions, perform energy balances, and monitor budgets and schedules while travelling regularly to project locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or related field.
• Experience in energy projects, energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives.
• Experience with industrial heat pumps, solar PV, waste heat recovery and utilities is a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Microsoft Planner Pro or equivalent project management tools.
• Knowledge of 3D modelling software is an advantage.
• Ability to perform technical and economic assessments of investments, including budget management and cost control.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors and subcontractors.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Porto, Aveiro and Alto Alentejo.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee energy and decarbonisation projects, including solar PV, heat pumps, waste heat recovery and utilities optimisation.
• Assess technical solutions and coordinate suppliers through the project lifecycle from design to installation.
• Analyse energy consumption, perform energy balances and assess feasibility and economics of proposed solutions.
• Coordinate on-site activities with suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Monitor project schedules, milestones and risks; implement corrective actions as needed.
• Manage project budgets and CAPEX, including cost commitments and forecasts.
• Monitor post-implementation performance, measuring energy savings and CO2 reductions.
• Prepare regular progress reports for Project Management and key stakeholders.

We are currently strengthening an Engineering team and are looking for an Energy Transition & Project Engineer to manage and oversee industrial projects focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy and decarbonisation.

The projects will be developed across Porto, Aveiro e Alto Alentejo, requiring regular travel between these locations depending on project requirements and implementation stages.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related field;
• Previous experience in energy projects, energy efficiency and/or industrial decarbonisation initiatives;
• Experience with industrial heat pumps, solar PV systems, waste heat recovery and industrial utility systems will be considered a strong advantage;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD;
• Experience with Microsoft Planner Pro or equivalent project management tools;
• Knowledge of 3D modelling software will be considered an advantage;
• Ability to perform technical and economic assessments of investments, including budget management and cost control;
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors and subcontractors;
• Willingness and availability to travel regularly between Porto, Aveiro and Alto Alentejo, depending on project requirements and implementation phases.
  

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee energy and decarbonisation projects, particularly involving solar PV systems, industrial heat pumps, waste heat recovery and industrial utilities optimisation;
• Assess technical solutions and coordinate suppliers throughout the project lifecycle, from initial solution design to installation and commissioning;
• Analyse energy consumption, perform energy balances and assess the technical and economic feasibility of proposed solutions;
• Coordinate on-site activities involving suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and internal teams;
• Monitor project schedules, milestones and risks, identifying deviations and implementing corrective actions where necessary;
• Manage project budgets and CAPEX expenditure, including cost commitments, additional works and financial forecasts;
• Monitor post-implementation performance, assessing energy savings, cost reductions and CO₂ emissions reduction;
• Prepare regular progress reports for Project Management and key stakeholders, covering project status, schedules, costs, risks and achieved results.
