Job summary

SWJ Portugal Engineering Solutions in Lisbon is seeking an Electronic Component Engineer to support component selection, qualification and lifecycle management for automotive electronics. You will collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Purchasing and Quality to review specifications, assess reliability data and monitor changes, availability and obsolescence, helping to identify suitable alternatives.

SWJ Portugal Engineering Solutions is part of the international SWJ Group. Based in Lisbon, our team works across software, hardware and testing, with a focus on embedded systems. We support our customers throughout product development, working with Automotive SPICE, agile methods and customer-specific processes and tools.

We’re looking for an Electronic Component Engineer to support component selection, qualification and lifecycle management for automotive electronics.

What you’ll do

• Support the selection of electronic components, including passives, semiconductors and ICs
• Work closely with Hardware Engineering, Purchasing, Quality and suppliers
• Review component specifications, qualification results and reliability data
• Monitor component changes, availability and obsolescence, and help identify suitable alternatives
• Maintain component data and support investigations into quality and reliability issues

What you bring

• A degree in electronics, electrical engineering or a comparable technical qualification
• Relevant experience in electronic components, hardware development or component engineering
• An understanding of component selection, qualification and lifecycle management
• An analytical mindset and a collaborative approach
• Business-fluent English and basic Portuguese skills
• Experience in automotive electronics, AEC requirements, failure analysis or PCN/EOL management is a plus. You don’t need to tick every box, we’d like to hear about your relevant skills and experience.

For junior positions, we welcome candidates with relevant academic or project experience and a willingness to build their expertise. For senior positions, we expect experience taking technical ownership and coordinating work across disciplines.
