Job summary

Decskill, an IT consulting company with a strong focus on data and BI, is seeking a Database & Microsoft BI Specialist to design, optimise, and monitor database systems within a dynamic, international context. The role emphasizes ETL development, SQL performance tuning, and Power BI expertise to deliver robust reporting and analytics.

Based in Lisbon, you will collaborate with development teams, ensure data integrity, and contribute to cost-effective database management while aligning with ITIL

Qualifications

• Solid experience with the Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS; Tabular Models).
• Strong ETL development, optimisation and monitoring of SQL procedures and functions.
• Advanced root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with SQL performance tuning, partitioning and indexing.
• Experience with C#, PowerShell and .NET.
• Experience with Power BI and Master Data Services.
• Strong ITIL knowledge.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring tools: Dynatrace, ELK, Zabbix.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support critical business processes.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and database triggers for data manipulation and reporting.
• Work closely with Development teams to improve business process outcomes.
• Administer and maintain databases, ensuring operational performance and availability.
• Implement backup systems to ensure database data integrity.
• Ensure backups are performed according to the strategy defined by each business line.
• Provide technical support to developers and APS teams.
• Intervene in incidents affecting database performance or access to information.
• Participate in post-mortem analyses of major database incidents.
• Ensure monitoring for performance and availability via tools like Dynatrace and Power BI.
• Assess and deploy innovative solutions to optimise database costs.

We are looking for a Database & Microsoft BI Specialist!

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement database systems within the Information Systems environment.
• Monitor and support critical business processes.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and database triggers for data manipulation and reporting.
• Work closely with Development teams to improve business process outcomes.

• Provide technical support to developers and Application Production Support (APS) teams.
• Intervene in incidents affecting database performance or access to information.
• Actively participate in post-mortem analyses of major and/or recurring database incidents.
• Ensure technological monitoring to maintain the required performance and availability through visualisation tools such as Dynatrace and Power BI.
• Assess and deploy innovative solutions to simplify, automate and optimise database costs.

Requirements:

• Solid experience with the Microsoft BI stack, including SSIS, SSRS and SSAS, preferably with Tabular Models.
• Strong experience in developing, optimising and monitoring ETL processes, including SQL procedures and functions.
• Advanced Root Cause Analysis skills.
• Experience with SQL performance tuning, partitioning and indexing.
• Experience with C#, PowerShell and .NET.
• Experience with Power BI.
• Experience with Master Data Services.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, ELK and Zabbix.
