Ever wondered what it takes to bring a brand-new hotel to life? Here’s your chance to find out. As we gear up for our highly anticipated launch, we’re looking for a Culinary / Kitchen Intern who’s ready to bring fresh energy, creativity and a genuine passion for food to help us create something extraordinary. From preparing our kitchens for opening day to serving our very first dishes, this is your opportunity to be part of something special from day one.
Your role
As our Culinary / Kitchen Intern, you’ll join us at one of the most exciting moments in a hotel’s journey: the countdown to opening. Working alongside our talented Executive Chef Fernanda Serrano and culinary team, you’ll gain hands‑on experience of what it takes to launch and operate the kitchens of a vibrant lifestyle hotel.
You’ll get involved in pre‑opening preparations, learn our kitchen procedures and food safety standards, and support daily operations across food preparation, mise en place, cooking and plating. From preparing fresh ingredients, garnishes, starters and desserts to supporting our chefs during service, you’ll discover the creativity, precision and teamwork behind every great dish.
You’ll also learn the importance of kitchen organisation, stock rotation, receiving deliveries, food storage and maintaining exceptional hygiene standards. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your culinary skills, explore different kitchen sections and learn from experienced chefs who are passionate about their craft.
This isn’t your typical internship. You’ll experience the excitement of launching a brand-new hotel, discover the energy of a professional kitchen and play your part in creating the food experiences that will help put The Standard, Lisbon on the culinary map.
We’re looking for someone with personality, curiosity and enthusiasm. Someone who loves food, takes pride in their work, thrives as part of a team and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, learn new techniques and embrace the unexpected. After all, we’re anything but standard.
Do you StandOut and have what it takes to be our Culinary / Kitchen Intern at The Standard, Lisbon?
Previous professional kitchen experience is welcome but isn’t essential. We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for cooking, a positive attitude and an appetite to learn. Your creativity, individuality and willingness to develop your culinary skills are just as important as your academic background.
In addition, the ideal candidate will be anything but standard…
Ready to be part of Lisbon’s most exciting opening?
Not everyone gets to say they helped launch a hotel. This is your chance to be there before the first dish leaves the kitchen, help bring our culinary vision to life and play your part in creating the very first chapter of The Standard, Lisbon.
All applicants must be eligible to undertake an internship in Portugal. Appropriate documentation confirming eligibility will be required before the internship commences.
