Axians Portugal is seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to join an international financial services project. You will develop, maintain, and modernize critical legacy applications, contributing to high-volume transaction processing and strategy improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with business and technical teams, adoption of modern development practices, and ensuring security and regulatory compliance across the software lifecycle.

Qualificações

• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software development.
• Strong expertise in Micro Focus COBOL.
• Experience maintaining and enhancing business-critical legacy applications.
• Solid understanding of software development best practices and application lifecycle management.
• Experience with unit testing and integration testing.
• Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and automation practices is a plus.
• Experience with Ansible, Toolchain, or similar technologies is considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of PowerHouse (4GL) and/or Eloquence is a plus.
• Experience in financial services environments is valued.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications supporting critical business operations.
• Review and refactor existing code while ensuring stability and business continuity.
• Identify impacted components and assess dependencies across the application landscape.
• Collaborate with business analysts and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Design, develop, and execute unit and integration tests.
• Support acceptance testing activities and defect resolution.
• Contribute to application performance, stability, and maintainability improvements.
• Promote the adoption of modern development practices, automation, and monitoring solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Manage source code and version control activities.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with security, quality, and regulatory standards.
