ITDS in Porto offers a hybrid role for a Mid-Level COBOL Mainframe Developer working for a major French Corporate Investment Bank. Join a team maintaining core COBOL applications and driving the integration of legacy systems with modern microservices.

You will develop, optimize, and document COBOL programs, collaborate with business analysts and application managers, and expose data via secure APIs to support hybrid deployments. English fluency is required.

Qualificações

• 3+ years of COBOL development experience.
• Solid knowledge of JCL, DB2 and batch processing.
• Experience with API development and integration, e.g., Java or Python.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and modern Dev practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Fluent in English.

As a Mid-Level COBOL Mainframe Developer, you will be working for our client, a leading French Corporate Investment Bank specializing in finance and risk management solutions. You will contribute to maintaining and developing core COBOL applications that support vital financial operations, while driving the integration of legacy systems with modern microservices architecture. Your main responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain COBOL applications to ensure system stability and performance.
• Keep documentation up-to-date, facilitating seamless knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate effectively with business analysts and application managers to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Integrate COBOL applications with external systems and services via secure APIs.
• Expose COBOL data and functionalities through scalable APIs, supporting hybrid microservices deployment.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in COBOL development.
• Solid understanding of JCL, DB2, and batch processing.
• Experience with API development and integration, ideally with modern languages such as Java or Python.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and modern development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Good command of English (fluency).

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

• Experience working within Agile and Scrum teams.
• Certifications or experience in microservices or related technologies.
