ITDS Portugal is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join a Lisbon-based banking tech team. You will work on core COBOL banking applications, contributing to reliability, performance and security within a hybrid work setup.

In this role you'll analyze requirements with BAs and Tech Leads, implement COBOL solutions, perform testing, support UAT, and ensure compliance with client standards. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in COBOL with DB2/SQL, JCL, and CICS, strong English, and

Your main responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance COBOL-based banking applications to ensure operational excellence
• Analyze requirements and translate them into high-quality COBOL programs
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Technical Leads to deliver robust solutions
• Conduct system and unit testing, creating test documentation and executing test cases
• Support clients during User Acceptance Testing to ensure seamless deployment
• Adhere to strict client standards, processes, quality, and security protocols
• Provide technical support during various testing phases and assist in knowledge transfer to junior team members

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Minimum of 5 years of programming experience in COBOL, DB2/SQL, JCL, and CICS
• Over 3 years of system analysis and design experience
• Proficiency with COBOL Online (Screens and Maps), sequential file handling, and Eclipse development environment
• Experience with Visual COBOL and Unix shell scripts is a strong plus
• Excellent command of English (B2 level) for effective communication

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git
• Experience working in a banking or financial services environment
• Additional certifications in COBOL or related technologies

Language required for the role:
Good command of English (Communicative level)
